Why do you assume people are picking it already? And define a joke. There was only 91 hours open when we published so don't assume everyone's out picking crap up. That's an assumption and we all know what that means.

I usually agree with you but I can't on this one. Maybe a pick up helps someone's schedule so they can get something off (or call in sick for) down the road. And why wait around for a trade that may never pop up?

Either way Mesa can still F^€£ itself.

I saw the open time right when it came out. There wasn't much there to pick up. My point is why pick any of it up at all. The reserve grid is red with between 4-9 net reserves with a buffer of 19. With less upgrades and less pilots finishing training we won't ever have enough to be able to drop.
Why not wait and pick up something on the trade board. I know guys who don't even bother to post trades because they'll just sit on the board.
The little open time that was there will be assigned to the reserves. And that forces us to use sick time for our trips that don't get picked up.
All I'm stating is, try and help a fellow pilot out first. Don't worry the company will take care of themselves.

Just doing research,

Thanks for giving me another point I need to check out.
AA pilots 401k is great, we have nothing compared to what they have. Medical is different and better. Envoy medical is on par with crappy.

Pilots Strike at ABX Air: Approximately 75 flights canceled

So... Couldn't we and half the airlines that have been negotiating in perpetuity do this? New hire allowances? Referral bonuses? Etc. If this is indeed a legal strike, ALPA carriers need to invoke it a lot more.

In any event, congratulations and good luck to the ABX pilots.
Considering the courts shut it down as illegal, I think that pretty much answers why no one else is doing it.

I don't know what you classify as 'great', but this is a typical 401(K) plan arrangement in private industry:

Employees can contribute up to 100% of their eligible compensation up to the annual 2016 IRS limit:

Traditional pre-tax and Roth post-tax: $18,000
Traditional after-tax:
2016: Up to a combined employee and employer contribution of $53,000
2017: Up to a combined employee and employer contribution of $54,000
Age 50 or older additional catch-up: $6,000

Employer Match

100% on first $1,500, 50% on the next $1,500, 33% on next $7,500, and 10% thereafter
Employee vesting to the company matching funds: 50% after 1 year, 100% after 2 years

Age 50+ 'catch-up' contributions should be matched by the employer at the same rate.

I find it comical that my employee contribution in my final year of work in the corporate world was/is more than my first year pay at Mesa.

Mesa Air Group Inc Chief Executive Jonathan Ornstein said he will not purchase new planes that do not comply with existing scope clauses as he does not believe the current limits will be changed in the near future.
Instead, the Arizona-based regional carrier will buy more current generation E-175s, along with additional CRJ900s to replace 38 regional jets being phased out over the next four years.
"I don't think there's any chance the pilots will change their weight requirements. Zero," Ornstein said.
Are we buying more planes to replace old ones?
