Snipper, please read my text I was not there when ALPA visited the school so no I was not aware of the visit. I guess I slipped through the cracks. I also called the then MEC Chair was told "don't worry about it" and he would not discuss the matter any further. If you would like my side of what went down then feel free to message me. I find it odd that you've brought me into this and talk to what appears to be multiple folks but I haven't reached out to me. Additionally, you might be surprised to know that 90%+ of the A listers are at the majors and I know of a few at FedEx.
I understand your concern but it seems like its worth a conversation before a potential career move gets torpedoed

I would love to put this to bed! I am a member of ALPA in good standing. That should be enough but I realize that it isn't. I was in fact caught up in one of the first classes outside of initial cadre I.E. street hire/new hire.
I left San Juan before Alpa did their little road show to the school. I wasn't aware that they had even gone out there and was to busy literally digging ditches and living in my in-laws basement with a newborn.
Again, I was a new-hire out of San Juan (MAPD). I have an Air Midwest employee number as I was a ramper prior to being given a class date.
Anyone that has an employee # starting with 4000's should not be on the list as they were new/street hires. Don't get me started on who produced the list and how something that no one will claim is treated as fact.
My class was about half US Airways furloughs and subsequent classes were even higher than that. Knowing what I know 15 YEARS LATER I would likely not go...Knowing what I knew then I would do the same thing. I believe this was a significant tactical miscalculation by the local association. I have always maintained that if they had just sent over there top 50 CA's/FO's there would have been no issue.
Now, there is significantly less than 300 pilots who were actually here when this went down and different folks have different opinions based on how it affected them. I wont shy away from what happened and am happy to have an open conversation with anyone to a point. I do find it amusing how some folks like to state its the cause of our crap contracts but if you saw the latest TA you would know that is just smoke and mirrors. There are some folks who believe we would have lost the flying altogether, to another carrier and never would have had 700/900s. Not saying I agree just saying perspective is everything.

This place is still $22 an hour first year, I'm making $10-15 less an hour to operate the same equipment if not larger than my peers. We have no min day pay.
PEOPLE, PLEASE STOP COMING HERE.
I know a guy with a DUI that was just picked up by Skywest. Guys, there are much better options than Mesa. A guy that was fired is now at Skywest. Don't think Mesa is the only answer if you have a skeleton or two in your closet.

You explained yourself very clear and I appreciate that.
Best of luck to you in the upcoming interview on the 12/13th of July.

Where did you see the defamation Eistein?
Pilots have the right to recommend and not to recommend on any airline.
SWA/DL/UA/AMR/UPS all encourage recommendations and concerns.
Have you heard "Review Board"
A question was raised about Freedom A and he explained himself
I don't see a character assassination anywhere. Do you ?

Either way J.G. You are alright in my book man. I wouldn't sweat a forum board warrior armed with little piece of what he thinks is "Intel?" As if you were sweating an Internet forum to begin with? Best of luck as always, I know you paid your dues at MAG for sure. As always hopefully we can get another LAMA on "board" or better on the board at purple.
Let's move on people and stop b.s. Half a** attempts at character assasination.

Google Freedom vs ALPA, many good articles and public record.
I did and learned a lot about what went down. Every Mesa pilot should as well,
public information at its best.
Freedom A is not a little piece...
FYI
I was told by senior ex Mesa captains during my research that Freedom A is the reason you get paid so low and that it hurt their Negotiating Committee and their work to deliver.
Anyway, good luck to him and for his sake I hope the recruiters accept if they ask of course his well thought explanation above.

Now, the more questionable aspect is whether he should be lumped in with the Mesa pilots who jumped over to Freedom for bonus; out of seniority upgrades; special parking spots and many other selfish aquisitions. And that's were opinions differ.
I'm not offering up either side as tight or wrong in this. Just sharing the information since I was here when it went down. And it (freedom) was directly the cause of the 03 contract we got.
