Commuting in the day before would surely be the stupidest idea ever.. but I don't want to sit in a hotel in DFW on my days off just so I'm "in place" for my trip starting Thursday..
thoughts?
Use commute clause if you can't make it. Simple as that.

From an anecdotal perspective, Holidays are usually easy to commute as people don't like to travel on the day of the holiday. It's usually the day before the holiday and the Sunday before the workweek starts that flights get full.

Thx.. oh yeah I'll make sure to give myself 2 chances so I can use the commuter clause.
I also have plenty of sick time, just in case…

but yeah, was hoping T-day itself, especially early morning, wouldn't be too bad.

Yeah, they said they'd figure things out in that mid-month meeting, but details have been sparse. It sounds like we're going to do something, but the what/when/where and how much remain elusive.

I guess it doesn't hurt to send out that educational email on the Railway Labor Act, but I'd hope the pilot group is already well read on it. Mediation can be a slow and tedious process, sure, but it's high time we get on it and picket at our bases. Maybe at the Crystal Palace too.

From the number of times illegal work actions are proposed in this thread, I doubt that.

Based on the questions on the conference call it's obvious they're not.

What if Mesa doesn't have any money and they aren't BS'ing us? Are negotiations useless? I mean they are probably going to want to give us 1% raises again and nothing more.

If they truly have no money, that is the result of years of mismanagement by JO and others responsible for the financial decisions this company makes...not the fault of the pilots. If that is the case, perhaps they shouldn't be in business at all. In the next five years I'd imagine that a few regionals will go the way of the do-do, maybe Mesa is the first one to have its head on the chopping block.
