8 700s to Hawaii for a UAL codeshare/regional interisland flying. Guessing they will keep UAL paint job/will be UAL tickets. (Not Go! round two....)
Mainland 700s will be replaced with more 175s. There are still somewhere around 20 more 76 seaters until UAL is scoped out.
No joke kids.

When Charlotte closed they didn't give those pilots the option of downgrading, did they? The real question might be how many just quit. This could be further company suicide if they're not willing to help those pilots remain in base.

With our current representation from the MEC and IAH LEC you'll see them wanting this to happen. Why? Because it doesn't affect them in a negative way. This is another example of the MEC in bed with mgmt. This move would only strengthen the senior pilot group in IAH and flush out the younger and more vocal pilot group.

This Hawaii thing seems like the biggest Mesa troll of the year. I can't think of a single domestic carrier who would want to compete with the other carriers on the island. For what purpose? Its just not worth the time and effort of any of the big three. Being that it is highly unlikely to be backed by a codeshare, I doubt the board would be into trying the islands again. Its just not in the cards guys.
Secondly, replacing the CRJ's with ERJ's is possible but also unlikely... at least in the near future. Mgmt wants to keep people here and he has little risk of losing the senior CRJ people and extreme risk of losing the Jr ERJ and CRJ people. While the union may like the idea, why would JO expose Mesa to the high costs of cross training these pilots that would move over when those senior pilots are the least likely to leave. Its not good business from their perspective so I doubt its going to happen either. In addition, I would venture that United would prefer to shed 50 seaters (as they have been) and keep the 70 seaters longer. They recently did interiors and Wifi
My guess, expect a new announcement soon with additional aircraft. This is the only way to keep the narrative as to why mgmt refuses to keep up with the industries pay and benefit packages, quick upgradezzzz.
These particular rumors, especially the Hawaii one, is quite comical. Ill happily eat my words if it were to happen but I feel confident in saying that it is extremely far fetched and silly.

You cant go to a lesser paying airplane unless you downgrade. Bump and flush, you get bumped out of your base because they are closing a base. Fo's can go to Ejet FO if they are bumped out of Dulles. CA's will have to downgrade. There will be a lot of senior lifers finding their way to the EJet. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to update your standing bid. Better yet, get out.
