The one advantage of paper bidding is the extra pilot it requires. But I like the high degree of specificity you can put into your PBS bid. You want 9 a.m. starts with no landings in OKC while overnighting in ICT and the 3rd, 5th, 14th, and 27th off? Go for it? Paper bidding offers a lot less control, maybe just the days off you want and a few preferable overnights.

I have consistently gotten better schedules with pbs including when I was on reserve then I did with paper bids. But then again I know how to bid.

That's what I get for starting with just if you are an fo and changing it to include ca at the last minute.

Paper bids have unstacking too. If you are junior you are working thanksgiving. Paper just doesn't put it front and center like pbs does. And with pbs as a senior pilot I don't have to take crap pairings just to get the days off I want.

How do you wind up with unstacking on paper bids? Well I never had paper bids, so can't speak from experience, but I never thought such a thing could exist with paper...

Unstacking is strictly forcing the bottom X number of lines to work specific dates. So for paper if you have to have X number of lines working a specific date you build them that way. So wether pbs or paper you either can or cannot hold off date Y.

True but with the SAP at PSA you can still hold the day off via work rules.

Yes, you PSA guys have a management team that somehow forgot to put a tight grip on SAP and actually let it do what it was meant to do... You all talk about it like its the best thing ever. I can see it being a huge QOL item.

Does unstacking force those uncovered trips seniority based from the bottom up?
