The statement made by A.H. (MEC Chair) yesterday pretty much summed up his entire stance.
" I represent the pilots in Phoenix "
ie. Mesa West Coast Lifers.
If you create too many problems for these guys they start to sweat having to get another job. If you talk about pay first, they start to think it'll come out of theirs. You get the drift. This is the same guy who stood in front of a teleprompt/camera and verbally stated he had no desire to move on. All the while telling the pilot group to vote yes on the last TA.
80% of the calls yesterday were from young pilots 2-6 years invested into Mesa. People don't always want to just give up and walk away. Most Mesa pilots I know arent those types of people who just want to thrown in the towel for nothing achieved. I think the majority yesterday needed to hear that final lackadaisical attitude from our elected reps. Come the 14th of October there needs to be a lot of effort shown by the MEC. Communication with Concrete examples of payrates, LOAs and timelines. These examples need to be accounted for.
At this point the MEC is basically silent and in a defensive stance with its own pilots. Literally yesterday I cannot think of one concrete example of progress with the company. The supposed LOA on hotels the union has been touting has yet to be approved it sounds. Why the union does not turn up the heat?...Well the statement up top in quotes tells you why.

Additionally to SSDD,
The company is stonewalling and or playing the duplicity card. In every category whether grievance related or contract negotiation related it sounds as if the company was approached by the union. The company then shrugged off the union and continued on. Or the company approached the union however then the relating issue was tabled. So in essence no gains in writing anywhere.

A.H. is a loser. Plain and simple. A lifer has ZERO ambition and should not be representing you your MEC chair. You are stuck.
Next time you fly with that DB, ask him how he personally "saved the jobs of the CC Air pilots." Hilarity will ensue. He really thinks highly of himself. Then ask a CC Air pilot what they think of AH.
LOSER.
If he did indeed say he has no intention on leaving and represents PHX pilots, there is your problem....Translation....I am just fine with the status quo and want to do the bare minimum to not rock the boat just long enough to retire while having an easy commute.
He is spineless and WILL NOT change anything. The most you will get from him is nothing.
Guess what... Mesa is failing and you all should be walking out ASAP. If you are sitting in the right seat, you should also be looking to move on to either a LCC or making a lateral move.
Be ahead of the fast approaching tsunami of failure.
Best of luck.

The game is rigged and your MEC is in on it. Your MEC will continue to do nothing. JO will let the company fizzle and fail or be bought just to make a quick buck. Your MEC knows this. ALPA national will not spend resources on a company such as Mesa that is setup to fail in the long run anyways.
AH is there to ensure he can still collect his own meager paycheck while holding onto his seniority.
NO DRIVE, NO AMBITION. He is riding it out to the end. For himself.
My point is that you should not even fight it.....Just leave and be happier in the long run.

When he made that statement, " I represent the pilots in Phoenix ", he was referring to the fact that he is also the Captain Rep for Phoenix, not that he only looks out for their interests. And you're right, he has no desire to move on.
Let's hope for some positive news this week!

How long have you been at Mesa?? Here's an idea: hold your breath. What's the worse that can happen?
But here is the good news you can expect: JO is throwing a totally kick a** break dancing party at a club in PHX on a Tuesday night! Everybody is invited and the first drink is on the house. Also, everyone gets a complimentary Fedora courtesy of Tommy Bahama.
Just please don't ask why Mesa is still the lowest paying airline by far with the lowest quality of life. That'll just sour the mood.
Plus AH will give you the stink eye as he nervously holds his cranberry vodka to his chest.

Just came across these in the SkyWest thread:
I guess the majors each have their favorite regional to pick from. ExpressJet for United, Compass and Endeavor for Delta, and Envoy for American (not pictured). We're on there, but the numbers aren't very impressive. I still wonder how much it has to do with our junior workforce and if the numbers will get a boost in a year or two.
Also, how does an obscure FBO like "Fargo Jet Center" account for 3% of newhires?
