I have been here longer then 10 years actually. I have tried to improve the industry after finding out what it was about. I don't like seeing FO's getting paid low wages. Yet I keep getting badgered for trying to raise the bar, raise pay. I just don't understand it. At least you admit you were being selfish and sold out. My point to you and the rest is if we all unionized for real and do what we need to do by voting no, together, we might actually change things. Look at Republic today. If they go under, some will retire, making it worse, some will go to other regionals that take over some of the feed, and some will go back to the majors, giving us much better paying jobs like it should be. It would also send a message to every other regional airline that they screwed up for negotiating 1.5 percent margins. The majors will also realize this and might give a little more money back to some regionals to increase pay, just to keep it going a little while longer. I just wanted you guys to realize I am looking out for you guys, it just doesn't look like it. It looks like to you, I have nothing to lose and am selling out your jobs by voting no. Not saying I will until I see the contract, but flaps, at least you admit you sold out. You actually gained some respect from me. I just wish you were helping my cause of raising the bar and not helping lower it by selling out. Either way. Peace buddy.
If you were truly on a moral crusade to raise the bar--and not just acting out of pure self-interest--you would've given up your seniority number and walked, and started all over again at a company with an industry-leading contract long, long ago. The fact that you haven't--and never will--means that you are in no position to hate on new hires or junior Captains.

You can talk til you're blue in the face about all that you have sacrificed for the industry, but the simple fact is this--a pilot seat is a pilot seat, and whether you're filling a new hire seat or a Captain's seat, we ALL knowingly accept industry-lagging payrates by working here.

I admitted that I'm selling out by working for Mesa wages instead of riding right seat in a 50-seater in JFK. By not putting your money where your mouth is--and taking the plunge in seniority leaving Mesa for a higher-paying regional with a better contract--you're pretty much just full of crap yourself.

Admit it--we're all selling out on pay & benefits in return for some combination of basing, QOL, seniority, job security, career progress, etc..--it doesn't matter if you're a new hire on day 1 or a senior CA--anyone who comes here and stays here is only doing it out of self-interest. If there were any element of "sacrificing for the greater good" we'd all go work for Envoy/XJet.

wt932051--are your apps in at XJet/Envoy/Skywest?

If you're on a crusade for industry-leading regional compensation, you'll resign immediately, stick it to the man, and "sacrifice" your seniority/pay/QOL to support the operation of a company that pays an industry-leading payrate.

Let me know if you need some internal recs I have a handful of friends at those regionals who'd be happy to help you get hired for the contract/payscale you deserve (unfortunately you'll be on the FO payscale for a while, but hey--you're on a crusade to raise the bar--and not acting out of self-interest--so you'll sacrifice, eat the paycut, and fly as a reserve gear-slinger for a while, right?).

If you don't quit immediately and go work for a company that pays an industry-leading payrate, you'll prove my point--you're here b/c it works best for you--not because you're trying to raise the bar.

I love crusade trips lets pile in the
win-crj-ago and take one on down to the crystal palace and light the ******ers on fire. The we can sing kumbyya, roast marshmallows and dream of a industry leading contract, main line jobs, and Jack O to the idea of triple figure wages.

It is not as easy as you think to get on with a legacy who actually pays good money. I am trying to raise the bar for everyone not just me. You are just mad I don't care about helping you get your upgrade at the cost stepping over others.

Your obviously voting yes so there is no point in discussing it.

No. You're an "Idealist" in an industry that has a broken Regional Airline business model. And, you'll never see the day when all Regional pilots will stand together. Not even all the pilots for one company. Your friend Flaps is a "Realist". And, this may be as good as it's gonna get. Maybe we vote no and it might get a fractional bit better. Look what's happening to RJET right now. Vote No and roll the dice like them.

On the topic of commutes, what's more doable... PHX-DFW or PHX-IAH?
