If you are going to talk crap about these two pilots, then do it with your real names. You're a bunch of *****es hiding behind an anonymous screen name. If you're not willing to do that, then do it to their faces in the crew room! Not willing to do that either? Cowards, otherwise act respectfully to your fellow pilots as if you were face to face.

Can anyone shed some light on whether they have been able to support themselves in Houston on first year pay and how they're doing it. Not trying to troll. My kids are grown and gone and the wife can handle the expenses of the house we own so I would just need to sustain my own needs. Has everyone there had money saved to sustain themselves or are you living in squalor? Any input from those doing it is appreciated. Thank you.

Doing some simple math, after-tax pay should be ~$500 or less (depending on your insurance needs). If you can live on $500 every two weeks, then you should be able to make it. Only you can know what your commute & living conditions will be like in IAH. If you have family there, should make the financial burden easier.

Note, I'm still on first year pay for a couple of months. Pay will go up by $7 and ~30% on second year pay.
Depending on how much I fly, it's between $1200-1600 net after taxes and insurance. I'm also still being deducted $25 a check for uniforms.
