You want change in your life, then make a change. Relying on others to make that change for you? That is a losers proposition. We are all payed exactly what we are worth. We choose our worth by our actions. You choose to come to work for the money paid. No new contract is needed. Only you can make a change that will favor you. Otherwise shut the hell up about it. Your problem is not my problem and vice versa. I don't buy the backstabbing synopsis, rather, it's a difference between what one finds acceptable and what one doesn't. Don't like your job? Some one else does and will do it.
Don't worry, I've made my change. I think the next six months is going to be very interesting for Mesa. I look forward to watching it play out.
Edit: On the off chance you're not actually JO/Management, please, on behalf of all of us, never volunteer for a union position.

You're up late, JO.

One of those conditions would require the MEC to file (and win) a suit in Federal District Court claiming the new hire payments/iPad reimbursements as violations of the status quo under section 6 of the RLA. And we will never, ever see this MEC/legal team pursue such an aggressive maneuver.

A strike is the only leverage we have at Mesa, but honestly there would be to many loopholes we would still need to jump through, and our MEC is just not up to the task to make it a priority. They still think they can negotiate gains from JO. LOL NOT in this LIFE! We have to TAKE IT! So go back to dreaming or better yet looking for a better job. It will be years before you see any real gains if ever at Mesa.

National would have nothing to do about it and you should educate on strike process before you start spouting. Need NMB involvement first. Plus just because you vote to strike doesn't mean you'll be allowed. Look up Alliegents failed attempt here not so long ago

Word is going around that the new hires will be required to give the bonus money back once ALPA legal gets involved...any truth to this?

The last thing Mesa mgmt and ALPA National want right now is a lawsuit at a feeder alleging that new hire payments break the section 6 lock--the mere filing of a lawsuit would be a PR nightmare and it would scare off new hires.
It's not going to happen--the perception of our MEC and most of our pilot group is that playing nice benefits us more than pounding the ground. Sometimes I tend to agree with them on that point.

Except our MEC has played nice and look where we are. Still the bottom feeder. In this industry you have to go get it. Until our MEC gets very very aggressive and goes after the new hire bonus and gets the process going enroute to a strike this place will always be sub par. Those who are aggressive get what they want in the long run. It is really on our MEC's shoulders.
(I don't mean getting industry leading, just industry average. We are wayyy behind. If you go for too much at a regional you will put yourself out of business)

A federal lawsuit still will not give you the right to strike.
No you don't need NMB involvement at all if a Federal District Court rules that new hire payments/iPad reimbursements violate the status quo...but that would require the MEC to dispute the payments and have JD/ALPA legal file a complaint.
