If this is true, and ALPA doesn't cease & desist this immediately (or at least tell the pilot group about it/LOA it) we need to re-re-re-clean house, and I might even feel compelled to run for office this time around.
It is one thing to give out new hire bonuses/incentive payments, since new hires are on probation and in somewhat of a grey area when it comes to ALPA/the CBA--lots of airlines have gotten away with unilateral bonus programs/1st year FO payments, etc..
Once those guys are off probation, however, it is a very, very, very flagrant violation of every tenet of the RLA/collective bargaining process to pay specific FOs $500/month extra without an ALPA LOA. There is no grey area on that one--there is not a single arbitrator or judge in the entire country who would even hesitate on this one--it is 100% completely illegal to just randomly pay some 2nd year FOs extra money without an LOA or CBA ammendment authorized by ALPA.
If the program you've described above is real, every single 2nd year FO not receiving that money needs to grieve the heck out of this--if for nothing else just to get the money.

If this is the case then, then ALPA needs to be replaced by another union or we just create our own union. I'm dead serious no one is looking out for us we should look out for ourselves.

Have you spoken to your rep about this or are you just angrily yelling on an internet forum. I would bet they have answers...or, that they have already filed a grievance. But hey, it's just easier to say "REPLACE ALPA" than to ACTUALLY do anything. You really think if you change the union, anything will happen? The same people are going to run. The same people are going to win. And the same inaction will occur. The problem is not ALPA national. The problem is the people you've elected to represent you. The problem is you.

I am not the "same people" and if it turns out this program is real (as described by prior121), and was just politely "overlooked" by ALPA (like so many other things--hotel buyback, ontime bonus program, etc.), I am definitely going to run next Spring when the current MEC terms expire.

You mean ignorant to the fact that they are a puppy mill, and you are a number that they could give 2 ****s about. Very little ground instruction and getting passed around from one instructor to the next. No, never applied there or cared to. I learned from a quality school with more interest than getting as much money from me as they could. The fact that you are an advocate for them actually explains a lot.
