Subsidized Housing IAD
If you do decide to go to Mesa and are looking at IAD, here's the link to subsidized housing:
https://www.loudoun.gov/index.aspx?NID=2676
$22.18 X 76 hrs X 12 months = $20,228 per year Mesa salary.
$20,288 is below the $22,950 the county requires as a minimum salary to qualify for the program. They know if you make below $22,950, that even with their subsidy, you still will have a hard time paying rent. That is for an efficiency apartment. Nothing fancy. It's pretty telling.
Here is the link to the county's salary requirement table:

I have a moral problem relying on fireman, teachers, garbage collectors, etc. to pay taxes to subsidize pilot's living expenses. But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

First time post be gentle.. I'm wondering what to expect as a new hire, or life in training on the 175 the good, bad, and ugly of IAH, typical trips, 175 training footprint in PHX, home study or typical training delays between Indoc and sims? What's the formate for reserve, long call, short can you pick trips? Can you find a Crashpad or cheap hotels in IAH? Pros cons of CRj V EJet best for a new hire.
Thanks. No haters please.

Reserve is all short call with some ready reserve (airport reserve). 12 hour shifts for short call (either morning or afternoon), 8 hours for ready. You cannot pick up trips on reserve. Expect about 3 months on reserve on the EJET.
Crashpads in Houston run around the $200 a month mark. Hotel rooms are around $50 a night.
EJET trips tend to be more efficient/productive than the CRJ, certainly the AA CRJs. Lots of 4 day trips hover around the 20 hour mark with some up to 24 hours. There are also 2-3 day trips and even some day trips still included in the mix. Mostly longer distance flying, but there are some short hops (SAT, AUS, MSY, DFW, MFE, MAF).
EJET training footprint in PHX is 1 week of indoc together with the CRJ. You then split off and do 3 weeks of systems, oral, then 4 days of Flight Procedures Training before heading to DFW (most likely) or YYZ (not so likely) for a couple of warm up sim sessions. After the warmups, you will get 8 sim sessions, a checkride and then LOFT. Once we start getting the new airplanes, we will probably see STL again for sim too.
There is no official home study program, but you will be doing a lot of off-hours studying.
Not much in the way of delays. Maybe a week between ground and sim and another week between sim and IOE if you're junior in class. Senior in class usually go straight through with only a couple of days in between segments.

Also, if you're the sole breadwinner supporting a family or in massive debt and choose to come to a regional, ****** you. There are tons of better paying non-121 flying jobs out there.
EDIT: I've determined from Skyler02's other posts that he sucks worse that ScottyDo. Just quit yo, and stop with the pathetic crusade against your bad decision.

Let's just say they removed the 1500 hour rule, how many pilots would think, "screw it" and walk off the job, and leave the industry? If Mesa started to treat pilots like they do the FA's, I would be gone tomorrow.

It wasn't that long that 250-300 hour pilots were being hired. That little 2006-2007 hiring boom saw a lot of that. Did people walk away then? I'm not too familiar with the situation, but I don't think so.

Just posting information so people can use it to make decisions based on what works for them. If it works for you, do it! If it won't work for you, find another option. Just managing expectations.

But yes, consider other regionals first. The pay sucks. I came here to upgrade, and even then I've considered starting over at another regional.

You can't afford an efficiency apartment in IAD on first year pay at any regional.
