Two of my friends at Mesa were approached by other airline pilots in the terminal this week. Both have been at Mesa for less than a year. The "recruiters" informed them of the $15k sign on bonus they will get if they jump ship along with $38/hr starting pay. Both are putting in their notice. The fun has just begun.

Looking at the PBS awards, quite a few CA's at DFW show their schedule as completely empty. Either they were taken off line, or much more likely, have moved on to bigger and better places. Quite a few Jr. Dfw CA's are now line holders. Did M.K. Get on with a major? When you see senior CA's and others who seemed to be lifers move on, you know the ship is sinking.
The great majority of the DFW CAs wth blank schedules are management pilots, instructors or CAs that are still in the training pipeline. There were only a handful that I didn't recognize that had blank schedules. I didn't check the roster to see if maybe they were on LOAs or something.

Has anyone thought of a flow or preferential interviews at a cargo outfit like FedEx or UPS?

Having jump seated on Fed Ex, I'd say there is a better chance of JO giving us an industry leading contract.

This is not surprising, every single FO that I've flown with who isn't concerned about upgrading, has their apps out for a sideways move. They ask me for my opinion on the matter, I always tell them, "What ever option gives you the best QOL".

Do you think Mesa will attempt to enforce the $12000 pro-rated training contract? If they don't, people will really be jumping.
And why not? Yes seniority is good and upgrade is good.. but as a first year FO at GoJet, you'll earn more than 2nd year YV pay with their $15k bonus for being type-rated. First year FO at TSA is more than the max FO Mesa pay. Plus they'll give you some kind of bonus (however a new type rating would be needed)
Skywest? Piedmont? Etc etc .

No. They cannot enforce the $12000 contract, because it would cost more in legal fees and court cost then the $12000 contract is worth. Then times that by a couple hundered pilots.
