No bashing meant but are they really teaching guys no need to hold control yoke on an approach?

Are we talking a real approach to minimums or a visual with the Autopilot on? I'm not holding that thing calm wind on a visual all the way down.

I think it is just an overall change in the FO's attitude. Maybe it is just how this new generation is. It's like when you are a kid you think you know more then your parents. lol I have noticed the lack of respect with several FO's. The majority are awesome however. But some don't listen and want to prove how much they know. They do things without Captains permission in many ways when all they had to do to show respect was to just ask and most all captains are cool. This also is a lack of CRM. Stepping on your Captains feet is not cool tho. Bottom line, no matter how good you think you are or how right you think you are you should always be in the learning mode and should be in that mode forever even as a Captain. I still learn from my FO's, my mistakes, and anything new that comes along. Being humble is the best way to be.

I'm not talking like death grip with both hands lol. Just barely on the yoke with one hand and just like a thumb and pointer finger at the bottom end. Usually I'll just keep my right hand on my knee and have a slight grasp. Now with the 175s I imagine that is a completely different story.

Way to be humble.
On the 175 it's purely synthetic. To make you feel like you actually might need to lift a finger at least once during the approach phase. Fly by Wire, Autothrottles, VNAV/Glide Path capture etc. There's really not much to it except tucking your legs in and waiting to casually take the controls once the plane has safely "auto-braked"itself to a safe transition speed. Oh, and before I forget you must make sure the coffee is stowed. Seeing as the aircraft cup holders are purely deplorable.
