Anyone know if this is starting to happen more for Mesa folks? What were the qualifications of the pilots who got hired? I imagine we have more young-ish pilots with PIC time and recent "training events" than we have in the past.

Probably military guys who weren't quite competitive for the majors initially. I don't know any civilians hired 2013-onwards who've made it to a legacy or even a major, and some have already built a decent amount of TPIC.

I know of 4 in the last 6 months, all hired 2013 onward (3 of which had no prior 121 experience) UA UA AA and DAL respectively. None were prior military.

It doesn't mean anything derogatory towards the application score. This subject was discussed on the webinars back in June.

To your point on pay.....it isn't all about pay. $13 an hour is a huge bump, no doubt about it. But if I'm a solid line holder building turbine time (majors are less concerned about TPIC anymore), I get the days off I want (maybe even the holidays), and my regional is growing in the 70/76 market (OO has a lot of 50 seaters to be parked over the next 5 years) then why would would I go back to the bottom of the list at Skywest? Is $13 an hour, and a 2 month hiatus from building time worth it? Maybe if it makes your commute easier, but other than that I can't see a good reason to jump ship. Not to mention the fact that reserve at Skywest is a nightmare from what I've heard.

I'm seeing a lot of regional pilots on the new hire rosters at UA, Mesa included.

I am not one to project doom and gloom, but I've been seeing it with my own eyes. Our brainwashed MEC who really only cares about themselves riding the Mesa train until they retire, need to start fighting for an industry average contract in the hopes it keeps more pilots here long enough for them to retire!
However, for the vast majority of pilots on property, no one is going to wait for that to happen, and has been witnessed by everyone else who pays attention, more people are leaving than coming in!
People are smart enough to know to not board the upgradezzzz train that traverses old rickety track that is about to fall apart.

So when does open enrollment start? Are there going to be changes to the insurance this year or status quo?
