That's not how businesses work. They don't want to shut down. If they felt the pinch in staffing or labor, they'd have to negotiate more profitable CPAs. All the other airlines are doing it. If not, they start losing tons of money. It just blows my mind that people continue to go to Mesa.

That's an empty threat. The only way Mesa is going to compete against the rest of the industry is by making the contracts better, not worse. Unless, it is their goal to cancel flights or park airplanes due to staffing. TSA has one of the best 50-seat contracts in the industry and better than your 76-seat contract yet they continue to to struggle to hire pilots. Even Skywest spammed the entire commercial pilot industry with fancy propaganda just to get the few stragglers that were out there and had never heard of Skywest.

There is just no money for pilots, or all labor for that manner. There never has been, and there never will be. JO would rather close this place down than have to pay an industry average contract. That has been the story of Mesa all the way back to when Lary ran things in Farmington. If you have previous 121 than upgrade and move on. If you are new and commute than the world is your regional oyster. You can be hired tomorrow for double the pay, benefits and QOL. Not to mention potential career progression to the majors, and far superior travel benefits. If you are new to the industry, then do your homework before you take a job over the phone.

I am a CA at Mesa. I am not one to wait for things to get better, but I sure as heck not going to tolerate a loser mentality that our MEC obviously has. This pilot group has given away everything long enough. It is time to get improvements across the board without giving up other things. If Mesa can't afford that, then they cannot afford to stay in business. I will move on long before this ever happens, as will the majority of the pilot group. How many FO's are leaving? Heck, one of our Captains went to Piedmont! The writing is on the wall and Mesa is incapable of doing what is needed to keep its pilots. The lifers here who are worried about finances of the company should be more worried about keeping pilots around. Y'all will be looking for a new employer from lack of pilots

And please don't think the industry can't afford to pay pilots. The majors are making billions in profit. Literally billions. If they want to keep these RJ contracts going, they will pay for it. Or they will take the flying back where it should be. Both are good for pilots.
No more voting in crap contracts. Those days are over. And believe me, JO and every airline exec knows it. But they will ride it out as long as they can. Why wouldn't they?

The last participation award I received was immediately thrown in the garbage can. I only count first place. Secondly, I am perfectly happy with the current contract until we have the leverage to get industry standard. Thirdly, the MEC, and the pilot group does not have to worry about how JO is going to pay for it! It is his problem to figure out, pilots are a commodity, and we have a set value. It is just the cost of doing business. Do you believe he loses sleep wondering how his first officers will pay the bills, or how his pilots can't afford the health care? Of course not!!! So why are you caring about his problems? This is Stockholm syndrome, pure and simple. Now you might be a lifer at Mesa at this point, and afraid that Mesa may go out of business, that is valid, but you are no longer the majority of this pilot group.
NavMode - Please go read about Stockholm Syndrome.
The market has changed. It's that simple. The current ridiculous contract has absolutely nothing to do with where the industry is now. That was written in a market that no longer exists. That thing can be burned. It has no bearing on where the industry is today. It's a whole new day for the industry, and for pilots. Finally pilots are starting to stand up for themselves.
