Not a pity party in the slightest. Staying an FO for a few more years, living in base, for a better company that doesn't nickel-and-dime me at every turn is a better choice for me than upgrading at Mesa and going back to DFW or IAD. Turbine PIC is quickly becoming irrelevant in the grand scheme of things; the majors are going to need ALL of us before long, PIC time or not.
YMMV.

I know you and spoken with you regarding your move to ShyWest. I support your decision. You've made it pretty clear that it's not all about the upgrade and Mesa isn't the place you'd want to finish your career. Some people just don't get it. This decision is best for you and your family and you'll get a better QOL. I wish you luck and I'm happy for you.

Why are Mesa people being douche bags to a guy because he chooses to leave. We already spend so much time talking about why Mesa works for many of us as a reason to validate our coming here. Why tear down a guy for having his reasons to go to another regional. Respect a grown man's decision.
Also. My understanding is skywest didn't get our 175s. They purchased those independently.

The only new planes Mesa will get are the ones from carriers thats are loosing them (if that even happens). Ya we all might upgrade faster here but we are still going to be working under the same BS Mesa contract. How many of you guys have talked to CAs with some time here and they have said "I love Mesa"? Every CA here that I have flown with pretty much doesn't like being here and wants out ASAP and they can't get calls back form mainline.
I dont blame any FO, new or senior, for wanting to leave to a better company regardless of how close they are to upgrade. Sure you might be only making a lateral move, but you will at least enjoy more money, better work rules and health benis than here. Just saying

That's every capt at every regional. I know for most of you this is your first regional, but they are all the same. This place isn't even that bad lol. Management stays out of our business and upgrade is less then a year. Try suffering as an FO for 6 years and get back to us.

The only people I fly with who say anything about Mesa are the crusty former CLT captains. This thread is like Mesa-hate juice concentrate. All this alone-at-the-keyboard TA brooding is causing it to drift further from reality.

I do agree with you in regards to the CLT guys, but some of the senior DFW CAs that are not former CLT guys are just as disgruntled.

Know your Mesa history? Ask any of those CLT CA's about Freedom Airlines. They have a right to be bitter and untrusting of Mesa mgmt.

I don't think anyone ever said this place was bad. And the only people that can upgrade in less than a year is people with prior 121. Maybe your one of the recruiters for Mesa selling that to the new hires tho ehh....Ive always wondered how we keep filling classes and now we know, thank bro
Yea I came to mesa to work for free in the recruiting department. it's all about perspective.... You're complaining about mesa, but have never experienced really being abused by management. Getting junior manned at least 4 times a month.. no cancelation pay... 4 hr sits everywhere on a normal line. Getting called in the chiefs pilot office for one sick call in a year. Be happy your able to upgrade quick and not have to suffer on Fo reserve for years.
