1st year FO pay
How much can a 1st year FO expect to realistically take home a month after taxes, health insurance, etc etc etc

Rumor mill time...I was told from a few FAs that they got an email asking for volunteer 30 day LOA...Anyone hear the reasons why this is happening?

I've heard it has something to do with dual qualification (EJet + CRJ) and blended lines.
I don't think the FAs were all dual-qualified before, but I seem to remember hearing they were in the process of qualifying all of the FAs on both fleet types eventually.
Afaik there is nothing in their contract or the FARs preventing the company from building multi-domicile/multi-equipment FA lines. As in, they could legally build a line consisting of mixed IAH/IAD trips on both 700s and EJets.
That would certainly reduce the number of FAs required, at least in the short-term.

If this TA passes, I imagine we'll be in an overstaffed condition pilot-wise as well.
The TA's company-favorable provisions on reserve balancing, reserve open-time pickups, and multi-domicile buildup lines will most certainly reduce the need for CAs & FOs systemwide.
By allowing the company to assign build-up lines consisting of PHX + DFW + IAD open time, the company will be able to carry lower numbers of pilots in all bases systemwide. Whereas with the current contract, they have to carry a handful of extra CAs/FOs in each base to account for typical fluctuations in the flight schedule from month to month.
Something for junior CAs and FOs to think about before voting on this agreement--this TA could make some of you unnecessary, at least in the short-term.

The FA leave of absence is just a rumor. The classes are still full. Why would they have 45 new FA's going through class if they're asking for a leave of absence.
