From the alpa email: Ornstein says Harty’s take on the 1500 hour rule as told to Regional Horizons include, “If the FAA truly wants to enhance safety it will get this 1500 rule repealed. The military has guys flying missions in Iraq with 400 hours. And when the quality of training was controlled, we had better pilots.”

I think he is referring more to MAPD. I will say the MAPD grads I had come through training did very well on the whole.

When did we have to take contract concessions? They forgot to deduct from mine I guess. And it's not a conspirators theory to know that Mesa gets business by grossly underbidding our competitors. How are we able to do this? That's right, we work for a fraction of what others do. But when we have people like you vowing to vote 'yes' if they throw an extra quarter your way, how could we lose!? Quit being shortsighted. We're being whipsawed against each other and legacy management is winning. We're subsidizing their multi billion dollar yearly profit. But please, take your shiny new quarter and feel proud. You seem to have animosity toward me but I think it's deeper than that. It may come from the fact you know I just might be right...wear your ten year pin with pride buddy.

Look, all I know is we all have to work somewhere, and hell I had some really cool things happen in my life while at Mesa. Namely meeting my wife, starting my family. Buying my first home. Picking up 2 more along the way having 4 different domiciles. Not to mention all the friends I met and the many type ratings.
Thanks for your refreshing insight and good luck at Frontier!

lol I didn't realize military carries 50-76 paying civilian passengers around :P It's easy to not care about 400 hours when you just eject and there's no one to care about besides me, myself, and I.
and XJT hires new FOs from the military (that are just getting recency from us) and the are awful. Most can't talk on the radio....."wait, who is this? Ground? what do I say to them?" "what do I tell ramp now? where am I?"

Most military pilots could fly circles around 10 year captains at the regionals.
