That's weird. I'm not a lifer. And neither are many of my colleagues (college educated as well to placate the other poster that resorts to name calling.) But if you have a better idea to explain the disparity in hiring, please enlighten me instead of name calling.
Do you think United will award a new long term contract to a regional it thinks is unable to staff the flying? It's not complicated. Wait for some new great news for Mesa.
Please try to respond logically this time instead of emotionally. I understand it's not fun to hear you probably chose the wrong regional. I know this because I'm at the same one. Also, if he is truly your friend in HR, what are you still doing at Mesa?

Mesa is not only capable of staffing our current UAX operation, we are in fact covering the understaffed regionals' flying now. How do I know this? Because I've been called in to operate unscheduled Mesa 175 flights twice this week, that were originally on Shuttle 170s but "cancelled due to staffing."
Looking at our predicted lines, block hours, and training pipeline, and with the DFW & YYZ sims being utilized now, we're completely caught up on staffing and defnitely scaled up for more flying if United throws it our way.
Sorry to the haters, this place isn't going to implode anytime soon.

I have a lot of good friends at Skywest. They know me and that comment is no offense to them. They know that. But Skywest does have a lot of the Embry-Riddle bores. I hear it all the time from them. "I have earned the right to be here" is prolific.

"Both" is not required in that sentence. That's for you and Citation35f. Just saying. I thought the English "aficionadoes" that you are would have caught that. The whole sentence was painful to read.

Hahaha. He just upgraded. I'm pretty confident he'll end up at United eventually, along with quite a few other well-educated, well-spoken, intelligent Mesa Captains with the wherewithall to apply, attend career fairs, and present themselves properly.

Students currently in the sim have waited about a month so there is still a bit of a backlog there too.

69 to 70 lines out in PHX next month.
Here's something to read. United is buying more planes. Now they can dish out some more EJets. Let's see where these go.

United is not maxed out on 76 seaters, but they will be maxed out on 70+76 seaters once Shuttle America has placed their 50 E175s in service (replacing the Q400s), unless they buy CS100, E190 or E195 aircraft for mainline.
In order for the total 70+76 seat aircraft to exceed 255 following the Small Narrowbody purchases, they have to reduce the number of 70 seaters to no more than 102. By the end of 2015 they will still have 138 70 seaters in the fleet (100 CR7s and 38 E170s)...so look for United to remove at least 36 more CR7s in 2016/2017 if they want to grow the 76 seaters to the max.
Bear in mind that if they keep the 70+76 seaters to a max of 255, then they don't need to buy the Small Narrowbody aircraft, so they have the option of replacing CRJ700s (or E170s for that matter) with E175s without needing to buy anything for mainline. They would be limited to 153 76 seaters and 255 70+76 seaters in that case.
United is not required by scope to reduce the # of 50 seaters until they have more than 153 76 seaters in service. Even with Shuttle America's E175s that will only put them at 120 76 seaters, so they are not up against that yet.
The only other consideration is the number of block hours flown by UAX as a percentage of mainline single-aisle block hours. I have no way of figuring that part out, so I will assume it is not limiting at this time. Mainline adding A319s would obviously allow United to increase UAX block hours under this section.
