Hopefully the base situation can stabilize. Too many people have been displaced this past year.

That's exactly what happened to me back when I finished IOE.

The only thing stable about regional flying is that it's unstable

That's not true. Low pay is very consistent and reliable.

Welcome to Mesa. It never stabilizes. Regionals are very un-stable. But Mesa will bend over a lot quicker to satisfy the pimp.

New word from the recruiting department. Numbers to try and get new pilots are low. The pilot shortage is impacting not only Mesa but other airlines as well. Despite this, some interview types are now telling recruiting they want the E-jet or nothing at all. While in times past, Mesa would try to accomodate, that is no longer the case.

If you get a job offer then say I want _ or nothing else, Mesa is now moving on. They will tell you they are no longer interested and move on to the next person. Remember, if you get hired into the CRJ 900 (CL65) you should take it. You can upgrade as a Captain into the E-jet as soon as you reach 1000 TT part 121. (so if you already have X amount of hours, think how fast you can make Captain-in fact some guys that were just hired in will be back as soon as F.O. training is done and will be bidding open Captain seats.) Don't shoot yourself in the foot. See the bigger picture.

Well I hope this helps someone, upgrades are going on like mad right now here, and a special note to PSA guys, if you just got hired at PSA or any other carrier and are in training limbo, you may want to consider coming here.

(After reading this, I sound like a recruiter, but if it helps someone who's looking for a job, more power to ya!)

Unless more flying and aircraft are awarded to Mesa, the upgrades will stop soon. Only 7 CRJ's and 6 more Ejets are on their way. Recruiting will tell you what you want to hear, don't be fooled!

Agreed, and this applies to any airline. Bases & upgrades can't truly be promised.

And there has not been a single FO who has completed training and then gone straight into upgrade training. Shortest upgrade time to date has been 8 months.

You just did a horrible job selling our company to potential candidates. You sound like a recruiter, but are bad at your job. So, you must be a Mesa recruiter. Your spin trying to say our desperation for pilots results in our being selective about who we hire and into what airframe is asinine. You are basically saying people who want to come here for a specific airframe/location (ejet in Houston) should instead be satisfied with flying the crj in an abortion of an operation that is DFW and hope we get more ejets so they can upgrade into it. Our most junior ejet guy waiting to upgrade is a May of 14 hire, with his upgrade class being held back due to lack of FOs.

If I was on the fence and read this I would go talk to SKW or CPZ.

Also, how many upgrades do we have who are less than 12 months? None on the ejet. Only a handful on the crj. Go away and continue to be horrible about calling people back, having no social media presence (where all the college kids hang out), and being terrible at your job. I think we have the industry's worst recruiters. I don't know how ornstein puts up with it. Pathetic. Even blojet attracts and dupes a lot of college kids with their decent recruiting on Facebook.
