I'm debating dropping my UA benefits this year. It's just not worth it when you're going to end up listing for the jumpseat anyway. Might as well save the $50 and buy something I can actually use.

Still a negotiated benefit in the grand scheme of things. Regardless, in times of record profits on UA/UAX, I would expect a good company to not pinch pennies and increase costs to its employees/contracted employees for the same benefits. If we were losing money and it was a ploy to save the company, that's one thing. This is just to squeeze every cent they can out of the very people who make them money. I got it, they want to keep their share price up and answer to investors, but happy employees = productive employees, and the infinitesimal amount this move increased profitability won't make one lick of difference in their bottom line. In my last job, as management, we took care of our employees and they took care of us. Clearly this industry is different.

Additional 737's or Airbuses would not give the company the ability of outsourcing any more 70/76 flying, it has to be a NEW narrow body. The company approached our MEC to see if we would sign off on 737-500's or Airbuses in lieu of something NEW. Though the pay rate on these airplanes is better than the E190, my position is that if they need more 70/76 then we have the pilots to fly them at mainline.

Quick question. Do we get per diem for airport ready reserve? I did not think we do but I see on FLICA it says time away from base 8 hours, for each shift. I know your technically in base but your also not at home either....thanks

It's in the contract, yes. In rainmaker it will add up as/under "taxable per diem" (or something like that) separate from your regular per diem.
