Those getting hired at CPZ today are particularly setting themselves up for quite the expedited journey.

Sure setting yourself up for failure with that mindset, eh?

All the positive thinking, wishing, praying, etc. isn't going to make that phone ring any quicker.

...and will still have not lifted a finger to try to improve your situation because being right about your little dark cloud is more important than anything.

Go! operates as an 100% fee for anything operation. They make the passengers pay to check even one bag, change tickets, any sort of beverage on the aircraft costs money. Therefore the flight attendants have to keep a tight inventory of the beverages and snacks, that paperwork is turned in at the destination. i.e. Leave HNL with 10 cokes and arrive with 5 in KOA, there better be $ turned in for those 5 missing drinks.

Maybe you can knock Management for this but I really can't. They're trying to run a lean business out there. One free water per 20min leg was plenty for me. Your sweating enough out there you don't need to be drinking soda anyway.

I have yet to see this. I keep track of my per diem and block and I've yet to have any pay problems. I DID have this problem all the time at Republic. Republic used an excel spreadsheet to keep track of pilot pay.

This sounds like a lot of hearsay.

Maybe in the old Mesa days sure. AI and CC are good guys. I guarantee you, if someone called them with these type of issues today they would be released. If my father was dying, I would not be calling Crew Tracking to get released. They aren't my managers, I would be calling a Chief Pilot. And like I said, in those situations I guarantee those guys are going to take care of you.

Our hotels are no better or worse than any hotels I've stayed at at my prior regional. Maybe I am not picky enough, but I've never feared for my safety at any of our hotels. I've never found the rooms to be dirty as you described. Are they 4 star hotels? No probably not, well except for the King Kam in Kona.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, we're all on the same team.

I'm just not sure if that was 100% fair and honest information for a perspective new hire to read.
Any chance of sharing why you left republic to go to mesa? Just curious.

Sorry there is no two year upgrade at Mesa sorry guys, that is bull that has been thrown out there by flight recruitment. But, reading the crappy 24/7 call schedules and other factors that you guys have been posting I think I would rather sit in the right seat of a regional. The pay does suck and the QOL, until you get some seniority. Don't worry about PIC, 90 percent of our Captains are staying, the upgrades are going to be a lot longer than forecast. And at their age they're not to blame, (911, 2008 crash) have changed their aviation careers. My guess is 5 years, 4 at best for upgrade including the E175. Majors will not care if you have been flying a piston DC3 in three years anyway. They will need pilots. The current hiring that I have been seeing is the younger less experienced at the majors recently anyway. I won't comment anymore on that in this post. So don't worry about that jet PIC. And if your still in school and have a chance to change majors. Go get a computer engineering degree and buy a plane to fly around. Just my advice.

Skillett, if we add 40 planes in 2 years ( best case, i agree - 30 for united and 10 more for Us Air, we will have 110 planes. At 9 truly active pilots per plane that equals 990 truly active pilots. A strait 50/50 CA/FO ratio means 495 captains.

Currently we have 597 truly active pilots (on rosters or doing IOE) both CA and FOs

Now, the attrition has averaged 4.28 pilots per month over the last 7 months. In 2 years that average, if maintained, will equal 102 pilots gone.

597 - 102 = 495

That means in 2 years, every pilot on the property today, that remains here, will have to be a captain.

Plus... there will always be at least a couple dozen, or more people who will remain FO for personal reasons.

Also... i've used Mesa historic staffing of 9 pilots per plane. Increase this even slightly, possibly to 10 under rule 117 and it is even better.

Or bump up attrition over 5 per month and see what happens.

Or alter the CA/FO ratio to 53/47 (which is not uncommon by the way to have more captains than fos)

Thats why i built this spreadsheet - i think it is pretty revealing.

Of course this is all predicated on at least 40 more airplanes headed our way. If that doesnt happen, then obviously nor will a 2 or even 3 year upgrade.

Yep - perhaps it will never happen for you. Perhaps never for me either. But you know what... I have all my limbs, and they all work. Both my eyes function properly, and I can hear the sweet voices of my children.

Life was never meant to be fair. Many will have the good fortune coupled with their hard work to arrive at the Legacy of their dream at a young enough age to set themselves for life, and others will lose it all from a random snow-skiing accident which leaves them in a wheel-chair.

I bet Steve Jobs would have given every last dime of his billions back to wake up the morning he died, and be cancer free.

Keep what really matters in perspective always. Don't waste the days you have now mourning what should have been.

PS. I counsel myself with these words more than you. I have to constantly remind myself of these things.
