With attrition and 7 more CRJs sometime 2nd quarter 2015, I'm thinking more like 12+ months...

Especially with all the majors hiring....

Ya, the hiring at the majors will pick up significantly since that 65 rule should start playing more of an effect. I saw it somewhere with the numbers of all the different majors with just the numbers they are going to loose due to the 65 rule alone and as I recall they were some pretty big numbers. However you can't forget all the lifers at the regionals now with no degree that can't go anywhere, at least for the moment. I guess if things get that drastic then we could see some majors begin to loosen they're requirements on that.

Not to start a flame war, but what's perfered in terms of outside ware?...the blazer, leather jacket or trench coat?

And are uniform allowances deducted out of your paycheck or paid upfront?

Most guys at least from my class went with the blazer and leather jacket. Mesa will pay for half of your initial uniform costs and cover the rest through payroll deduct or out of you're own pocket. This includes 2 pants 2 shirts, a tie, and one outerwear so either the blazer, sweater, leather jacket, or trench coat. The wings and epaulets are paid for and given to you before IOE.

My preferred outerwear is a North Face/REI fleece jacket so no one knows I'm a regional airline pilot.

This... Plus if you're taking public transportation to work might be better to cover up for various reasons.

Blazer you will freeze your ass off this time of year. Sweater is 20$, good compromise. I used to wear a fleece until ca's starting asking me why I wanted access to the cockpit. Can't blame them, I cannot recognize my coworkers if I see them out of uniform.

Yes, but AFAIK no shirt allowance.

I see all three types of outerwear on the line. If you order from Abbott, the uniform allowance takes the form of a discount. Not sure how it works with M&H, I haven't ordered from them in 10 years.

It's almost sort of a cultural thing. In IAD and with former Chicago folk, I see more blazer and trench coat combos, in Charlotte a lot of leather jackets. Not sure about Phoenix.
