I know I used to live there. Since moved and have friends there so free crash pad at IAD! Although I loath DC traffic and the attitudes there.

I'm 12+ months now. One person I flew with mentioned someone having taken leave to go to law school - a lot longer than 3 months, but maybe that wasn't true.

Yea that's called quitting. Gets you all the time you want

Yeah, you can't take FMLA to go to Law School.

Unless I read what you were saying wrong....

When things were slow before the growth they probably would have granted leaves of absence, but now that we are understaffed there is no way they will grant a LOA.

Probably thinking of voluntary furlough. That will get you some time off if Mesa ever furloughs.

No, not law school, and not FMLA, just three months unpaid leave.

This is what I'm referring to:

At the discretion of the Company, a pilot may be granted a leave of absence without pay for a period not in excess of twelve (12) months. The pilot shall retain and shall continue to accrue seniority but not longevity, during such leave of absence, provided that during such period the pilot maintains his airline pilot’s certificate or certificates required for his status. Such leave or leaves may be extended for additional periods of not to exceed twelve (12) months for each such leave when approved in writing by the Company.

What vandriver said. I tried it several years ago during a period of growth and was turned down.
