Prior 121 has a small dick as he can't even bench the women's bar.

I think age can be an issue, especially for someone who has not flown 121 before. 121 training is fast paced and some of the older guys struggle to keep up. No disrespect to them, it's just the way it is.

Before we make it sound like Mesa is having huge training issues, let's keep it in perspective that the number of people who are not making it through training are very much in the minority.

Quite frankly I don't see much change in the percentage of pilots that don't make it through compared to 10 years ago. My experience in the training department was those pilots who were trained in an airline style environment with a focus on IFR flying did much better than those who had no structured, multi-crew experience, regardless of total flight time. More total flight time did little to improve their chances of getting through unless somewhere in the gobs of hours they had some decent experience.

Someone who is weak on their IFR knowledge and skills, has little to no experience in transport category aircraft with a corresponding lack of multi-crew exposure has a lot steeper learning curve ahead of them, regardless of their total time or age.

It's still AQP. If prior121's info is legit, they'll just update the training standards to not allow re-tries/TTPs (train to proficiency) on the initial type ride.

No, Mesa newhire training is NOT conducted under AQP. Only recurrent and possibly upgrade.

No idea. I was led to believe it WAS done AQP-style but when I got to class, that was not the case.

I'm a middle-aged career changer type, but I've been a working pilot for the past 7 years. I went the non-CFI route, doing mapping, traffic watch, some UAV stuff and volunteer CAP stuff.

I washed out of my first 121 job 4 years ago, I only had 10 hrs of multi time then and the Dork Prop was a little too much airplane for me at the time. I learned from it though, and with the help of a number of friends in the industry, I breezed through Mesa's training and had a great time in both ground school and sim.

So...attitude, effort and preparation WILL get you through here.

This is a humbling story and I COMMEND you for sharing it, as I'm sure there are plenty of nervous readers of this forum in a similar situation.

(and no this not the typical prior121 smarta$$ sarcastic post)
