Not once you know how to handle Mesa it isn't. Send in the paperwork, wait for Mesa to deny you FMLA, call the dept of labor in AZ and tell the lady about it, she calls Mesa, minutes later, you get an email from Mesa saying you are approved for FMLA, and next time to follow the appropriate channels. You did follow the channels and got it approved.

So mesa really tries for 7 pilots per plane? That seems on the low side IMO.

Let's say you have 107 planes. And 7 pilots per plane. That's 750 line pilots required? And the other 200-300 are mgt pilots, pilots on leave etc?

There are also about 84 pilots in training/IOE status (a handful are still on line awaiting a class date in Jan)
So about 167 pilots are not currently on line out of the 984 that were listed.
Currently 92 airplanes online. Will increase to 107 by the end of the summer. So current ratio is running around 9 pilots per airplane.
