Sidestepping the diet and fitness tangent for a moment...

Hypothetical:

You're assigned a trip that starts on your first day of reserve. Do you still need to be in base and available by phone by the start of your reserve period, prior to the show time for your assigned trip? Assume ample other reserves.

I know this is silly but what if on your day of work there is a really bad accident and you are stuck in traffic. Do you call scheduling and explain? Will Mesa scheduling be ok with that? What happens to you? My prior 121 job we would have been yelled at and likely fired if it caused a delay or cancellation (non-union days).

What if you were sick? Would they want you to spread germs to other crew or were they ok with you calling in sick? Sounds like a bad prior 121 gig you had. Mesa is generally ok with things outside your control, but if it's a habit they will make you do the carpet dance. There's a point system for lates and no shows to try to keep it within the above guidelines but I have never messed with it and don't know the specifics. The more timely you let them know, the better. Chief pilot will stick up for you unless you lie about circumstances from what I hear.

I'm having a tough time deciding where to go. I am talking to a couple of different recruiters at the moment. As a company I like Mesa and think I would have good opportunities working there; however, their second year hourly pay as an FO is not near as good as the other line I am considering with similar opportunities etc. $30 vs $36-39
Why is this? Why should I accept less pay, is QOL and stability that much better at Mesa?

I spent 3 months "deciding". Its a tough choice. I recommend actually sitting down and writing a pros and cons of each. Be honest. There are so many variables. QOL, upgrade times, bases, etc.

I chose Mesa myself because of the current fleet, upgrade times and a HUGE factor was DFW. Since I live there.

Good luck.

Edit: Should also mention, don't listen to the loud mouths on this site. The Mesa, PSA, etc. hate on here really should not factor into your decision. Do what is best for you. If that means it takes you 5 or 7 years to upgrade at whatever regional, if its the best fit for you, go for that.
