It's a business plan JO uses to help keep costs down. The seats in the cockpit are removed and you must fly standing up. I found it easier to have one guy on the floor. I'd tell him which rudder to push with his hands.
JK. It's a continuous duty overnight. There's not enough time for a legal overnight, so it's two legs separated by less than 8 hours.
Example: Depart CLT at 2200 Arrive BFE 0000
Depart BFE at 0600 Arrive CLT 0800

It's not like he turned down, say, Skywest, so that he could fly the E175 or CRJ for Mesa. ;-)

I'm sick of people already in the industry looking down on young pilots like me and saying we are what is wrong with the regionals. The regionals is what's wrong with the regionals.
They're not where you should be striving to be at. The majors is the end game and I believe that Mesa will be a great stepping stone to them. So stop arguing about which regional is worse and accept that it is a stepping stone to greater things.
I currently have interviews with XJT and RAH set. I am considering others as well. The decision about going to Mesa is not made yet, but the more I look at it the better it looks for myself and my career

Compass and Mesa are the two best regionals out there right now for career progression.

Few questions for guys currently at Mesa, if you wouldn't mind?
1) What is the trip mix like? Are there many day trips and two days, or is it all four day trips? Are they generally commutable?
2) Do you use line bidding or PBS? Do most people just get min days off?
3) I keep hearing this predictions for quick upgrades, but do you think they are likely? Are you seeing much attrition?
Thanks in advance!

34 day trips
49 2 day
405 3 day
37 4 day
Keep in mind for Nov we are seeing a lot of lines with at least
2 of the weeks 3 day trips backed up by another 3 day trip, and a 30 hour layover somewhere. I'm guessing this is because of the holiday schedule.
We use PBS
If you consider the upgrades will be F.O. that have been here 7 years
quick......after hiring maybe picks up....a new hire now may upgrade
in 4-5 years.

There's a lot of pilots on these forums that just like to hate. Any regional pilot bashing another regional pilot for accepting a job is a hypocrite. Just ignore them. Congrats and good luck. All indications look like you've set yourself for fantastic career progression.

Let me know when this career "progresses". Going to a regional with a substandard contract to get a "quick upgrade" and "stepping stone" to a major is a great way to wake up in 15 years at a regional with a bad contract.

Thanks for the speedy reply!
So are current CRJ FOs being allowed to bid over to the 175 as FOs, or are you seat locked unless you are upgrading?
