Well there goes my January class date. Though I just texted my recruiter contact to see what any of this means. Though he sucks ass at texting back sometimes.

hahah, so this is confirmed or no?
wt8410481904 maybe right as we are really fat FOs on the CRJ side... looking at 20+ each day RSVs in IAD.
Also another thing to be pointed out... newly upgraded EJET CAs are flying their first 100 hours with an initial cadre Captain to avoid any green on green issues with new FO's.
So they're essentially not needing FOs on the EJET side for the first 100 hours of every new CAs flying outta IAH.
edit: just spoke with a friend who's on he EJET as an FO. Says all the guys are getting their trips bought off by the company for upgrade IOE and first 100 hours.....

I think that's an exaggeration. Browsing FT Web for the next 3 days, there are a couple of captain on captain flights where the FO listed is a check airman. Other than that, there are 3 FOs doing IOE and the rest of the right seats are being flown by senior line holder FOs, and with non check airman from what I can tell. The EJET currently has a deviation from the 75 hour green on green rule. Granted, 3 days is only a snapshot, but it's a pointer in the right direction.
The way IOE is working is the company holds back all the trips being assigned to IOE check airman from being assigned to FOs. That way there is no real "dropped for IOE". They then place IOE students on the schedule as they need to. There maybe SOME dropped for IOE going on for odd cases, but it's not the norm.

I find that hard to believe. The CRJ maybe getting closer to being staffed but the EJET most certainly is not. By the end of December we will have around 15 airplanes online and 75 FOs on property, with maybe about 55 of those actually online, the rest still in the training pipeline. At 5 FOs per airplane, we need 75 FOs for 15 planes. Unless deliveries slow down significantly, we will be behind on staffing.
Oh I just forgot, the rest of our EJETS are going to XJT, that's why we won't need any more pilots for it. Mhmm.

Dulles has 20 aircraft and 90-something FO's. By the end of October, it will be approaching 115 FO's. By the end of November, I estimate around 150-160 FO's. Admittedly, it could be lower if guys take their sweet time in or fail IOE. But that's a ratio of 8 FO's per airplane.
Phoenix has 26 aircraft and only 90 FO's. That's 3.46 FO's per plane, or 40 FO's understaffed. Meanwhile, Dulles is primed to be overstaffed by 60 First Officers by the end of next month. So, good job Standing Bid?

I think the company is waiting to see how the dust settles on all the base closing/opening before assigning new hires to bases other than Dulles. PHX is losing some of the LAX flying so that maybe why they are holding things lower in PHX. It's easy to throw everyone into IAD on reserve and then just DH them around if they need them elsewhere until they get things more squared away. They've always done that with IAD.

I thought nothing was changing with the LAX flying until sometime in 2015 according to that Kevin Wilson email from a few days ago. I understand your thought on waiting for the dust to settle, just doesn't seem that hard to look at everybody's standing bid and forecast when and where you'll need people. Maybe that's what they've done with the next award on Monday. We'll see.

Mesa has always found it tough to plan adequately ahead. They always get nervous about it costing too much money.
