Mesa is going through major base changes right now on the CRJ. ORD just closed, CLT is closing starting in November and DFW is opening. There hasn't been an FO bid run for over a month but apparently there are vacancies right now in IAD and PHX. IAD has always tended to run junior at Mesa, so it'll probably stay that way. EJET hires are all going to IAH since it is currently the only base for that aircraft.

Curious if ejet lineholders are breaking guarantee. Also how long is a new hire typically on reserve for the ejet?

It's too new to tell. From what I've heard, no one but the initial cadre are flying yet.

Is that to say, of the last three new-hire classes, half will be assigned PHX and half IAD? Or will people who've been waiting for PHX a few months fill those spots?
They go down the entire FO list from the most senior FO to the most junior FO (including new hires). They take the top 26 "non-IAD" FOs with IAD as their #1 FO bid preference. They take the top 25 "non-PHX" FOs with PHX as their #1 FO bid preference. If they don't have enough FOs voluntarily trying to move to those bases (often the case during times of expansion), they start filling the vacancies with new hires by looking at everyone's preferences and ensuring the most senior pilots get the base they have ranked highest.

This often creates secondary vacancies which the company might or might not decide to fill--i.e. if the top 5 IAD FOs decided to switch to PHX FOs last-minute, they'd all get PHX, and it would likely create 5 additional secondary vacancies in IAD.

Roger, thanks. That's what I thought, but the wording gave me pause.

Also, just because they're not tdy vacancies doesn't mean they're what I would call "permanent". West doesn't flying is increasing, however those spots could always disappear in the next bid, and turn into a tdy somewhere else.

No. If you're looking to go on the cheap, look for a 16gb refurb ipad 2 wifi.. They're like $175 if I remember correctly
