The Regionals exist because of low labor costs...Period! For that, you can blame the Legacies who are addicted to this system like a crack wh0re with no teeth!

For the aviator looking to fulfill his dream of commercial airline flying it's the only game in town...unless you're one of the fortunate ones flying Uncle Sam's vast array of bad a$$ toys.

So...guys choose to go to the regional airline that gets them the one thing that they need to GTFO ASAP...TPIC. Right now that happens to be at JO's crib. He's throwing out quick upgrade party favors like a naked, lipstick covered frat guy high on Jaegermeister and X!

If someone's ultimate goal is to make it to a Major, then I wouldn't blame them for tolerating lower than average pay to get there quicker.
I would love this to not be true, but I think this is spot on.

Long story short--cargo-only time doesn't count if the seats are removed, regardless of the original type certificated seating configuration of the aircraft.

On a side note, this isn't even something that affects me personally, but I strongly believe that all pilots should always help each other out on stuff like this and discuss the regs. Maybe I'm old fashioned, or maybe I've just done too many meetings as a union rep where conflicting interpretations happen all the time, but NovemberBravo I think it's really, really bad karma to be a douche about your internet searching skills instead of sharing whatever info you have about something.
So much but hurt

EXACTLY!!!

jvv700 needs to wake up and see the reality. He and his kind started the race to the bottom. Just because he isn't there anymore he can spew his misguided logic and opinion on all of us. His "don't come here" attitude is a bad representation of the Mesa guys I know.

Yes you're right...pilots should strive for companies like United, Delta, And American. SKW and XJT are NOT good paying airline gigs. None of the regionals are. We're just trying to make the best out of a crappy situation created decades ago when the regionals were born.

It's like going to prom with the ugly fat chick, and no amount of koolaid is going to make her pretty. So it's best to get it over with as quickly as possible and hope you have better luck tomorrow with something better.

Excellent post! Couldn't have said it any better myself.

I was talking with a United 777 CA last month and he brought up the topic of United hiring regional pilots. He had recently talked with his chief pilot and TPIC is one thing they still lean heavily on. They don't give a rats @ss regarding where you got your 121 TPIC or how special you think you are because you work at XYZ regional.

They are working on getting other tablets approved but who knows when/if that'll happen.

BTW you wouldn't be in the unemployment line as envoy, compass, expressjet,Skywest have all been hiring.....
Well in my defense, I applied to Envoy earlier and they said no. Mesa gave me a shot so I took it. And before you say anything, while I am not proclaiming to be "Maverick", I'm no bottom feeder either.
The reality is while we are all in this industry together, at the end of the day, we are competing against one another for jobs. It's simple supply and demand, there are too many of us willing to do this at these wages because of the hope of moving on someday to something better.
Not to mention, I think one of the big issues is this damn railroad act has our unions crippled. No way should a regional be in contract negotiations for 4 years, and certainly not 8.

Huh? I don't think you know me or where I'm currently at! When you say I'm not here anymore what exactly do you mean? I've only ever been at one place! Again there's no use talking to you guys, and my logic is shared by literally thousands of pilots!!! Just nobody at Mesa....
Any way good luck to you all I'm done posting on this thread so y'all don't have to deal with me anymore.

If you want to split hairs about other regionals being marginally better, then you're the one drinking the koolaid.
