Follow-up question, someone said Apple was going to be discontinuing updates for iPad 2, essentially rendering it useless and unable to be used as an EFB. I tried to look this up, but couldn't find anything concrete.
Does anyone know if it will/won't support the next iOS?

Ok, just bought an iPad 4. Which EFB software does Mesa use? I'd like to watch some tutorials.

You can get away with a 16gb, but I use a 32 because I use it a lot for personal stuff. I have net heard anything about discontinuing the ipad 2, but I'm not going to say it isn't true. I should have been more specific in saying that ipad ownership is compulsory for new hires. if you were here before and use paper, they're not forcing you to switch (yet, anyway).

I saw a post from somebody on facebook that Jeppesen announced at Oshkosh that they're discontinuing paper chart services at the end of the year or something like that, so Mesa would've had to switch everyone over anyway. Will be interesting to see how they force the holdouts to buy iPads.

Is the "Bob" mount approved now?
The Fat Gecko one is junk. I'm actually pretty miffed that they have required me to spend several hundred bucks to supply my own iPad (so they don't have to), then dictate that I use a mount which won't accommodate a protective case of any kind.
If the company had to supply us with iPads, you can bet they'd mandate that it be kept in an Otterbox or Lifeproof case to protect it, just as the Air Force does with its aircrew iPads.
There are good mount options out there, the company-approved mount is not one of them.

Yup, gotta have it for training, they didn't issue my class paper manuals of any kind. I had a Mini, sold it and got an Air just before starting class. I'm actually kinda surprised that the contract allows this to be mandated at employee expense.

They were short on paper manuals when I went through. I see they've solved this issue the Mesa way.
