What's the latest on SkyWest? Are they still hiring? Will they hire just for the jet or do you have to start in the Bro. Any Info can be helpful

Shouldn't you just get a blended rate based on what's actually flown typically for the base? How is vacation pay calculated? If you actually fly 20 hours but your min guarantee is 75 hours, what is your 75 hours based on?

As of right now, upgrade times are around 8 years. That will drop with the additional aircraft coming on board and attrition picking up. I'm guessing 3 to 4 year upgrades if hired today. 2018 is the year when the retirements go gangbusters. So only time will tell the truth on this shortage. I'm thinking about the time all the EMB start arriving next winter and the retirements at the majors start really picking up, upgrade times should start dropping dramatically. If these crappy schedules continue, which Mesa said they have no reason to make them more efficient. You will see a mass exodus when the hiring picks up. I have been sitting around the house drinking beer, waiting for Delta to knock on my door, " We need you skillet". It just hasn't happened yet, must drink more beer.

With the new part 117 rule Mesa's schedules have been at best "crap". Friends over at SkyWest and Whiskey are still seeing 15 days off with 88 hour lines. I don't know if Airways gives us the unworkable schedules or is it Mesa just being lazy. But United would also have to be giving us crap because the schedules in ORD suck as well. A lot of out station sits of over 2 hours, 11 days off per bid with six days on continuous will be the norm from now on I heard. Got buddies in the union who have gone to management and complained, they were told they have no desire to change things at the moment. I think that will eventually wear on some of us who enjoyed our 90 hour lines with at least 14 days off. Especially commuters. That 4 day off minimum between trips over at Spirit looks mighty good right now. It's good for the new folks coming on here at Mesa. Could cause people to leave that previously had no desire to. But, got to watch out though, this happened in 07' and it devastated this company with crew cancellations and delays. I think it caused the loss of the United and Delta contracts even though Mesa said otherwise. So many people got tired of the JRA's and crap schedules there was a mass exodus, I believe we lost over 700 pilots in just over a year.

I hear they're putting your reserves back on airport/standby reserve AFTER sending them out to fly a turn? Doesn't an FDP end when the aircraft is in the chocks with "no intention of further aircraft movement by the same crewmember"???

I don't think they can legally do this. I guess make sure you know the 117 language because Mesa might not.

They assign it at the beginning of a pairing, if it fits into your FDP on the last day, unfortunately it's legal. Just make sure your getting credit for the flying, and your ready reserve shift you do. If ready is assigned after a flight assignment you are credited for both.
