the problem also is, at the time Mesa had more flying then it had crews.
the worst I can remember was 65 hard lines with 60 FO's on the roster.

Don't forget giving people 1 day of reserve so they could bleed another day out of you by having a mixed line...I was just wondering about the Delta wind down as to where the DOH for the last guy/gal will be..as in how far the cut will go.

Apparently because they're dishonest liars.

Read the whole story about the GO! fiasco, then think about it some more........the BS is coming from Arizona.

That BS is finally on its final graveyeard spiral though.

If you are staying on at Mesa you are likely holding out hope that some company is going to snap you up in bankruptcy. I don't think this will be the case. It cost a ton less and is much less troublesome to just acquire pieces of mesa once they are in full liquidation. Companies would rather hire who they want and newhires significantly reduce casm and increase profit margin.

The only hope that MAG has is to argue that they aren't going to lose the USair contract and that they have worked out a deal with United... Does anyone really think that is going to happen? The judge will look at 2012 when Mesa's majority of aircraft come due for renewal. These contracts will go to a company in good financial standing and willing to fly for less then mesa. We know that other regionals are salivating at the kill. Bottom line, from a purely investment and business perspective it's over.
Based on your writing you must be a very smart businessman. Why don't you suggest somewhere for these pilots to work in such a great economy. It must be really easy to find a good job right now.

I'm sorry, but flyingkangaroo makes a point. If you are at Mesa and your DOH is forecasted to be furloughed than you should indeed be searching for alternative employment at this time. You don't have to go much further than the pages of these forums to figure out who may or may not be hiring in the Part 121 world. Not enough pilot jobs to go around, you may ask? Well, it is what it is. You can't win if you don't play. Furloughs, bankruptcies, and liquidations (historically) have and will force many aviators back to the drawing board in terms of a career.

I left Mesa in 2008 for a corporate flying opportunity. The company furnished me with an LR-Jet type rating. It was virtually all Part 91 flying with a 50/50 domestic/international mix. If you would have told me 3 years ago that I would be back in a university working on a graduate degree, serving tables, and working a paid internship at a major airline (with hope for a full-time gig soon)...I would have called you crazy and asked for a hit of whatever it was you were smoking.

Getting furloughed does have its benifits. Free type rating, unemployment, food stamps, depression, hopelessness, guilt, tears, fear, divorce, child support payments, homelessness, etc.

This was also at a time when your brothers and sisters at MAG were sending part of their paycheck to Comair's strike fund (You know, the pilots giving ALPA Freedom pilots the finger and denying jumpseats in Cincinnati?).

MAG pilots always believed they could make improvements on the next contract but just when the opportunity rolled around again MAG rapidly lost 700 pilots due to attrition and hired a thousand more 300 hour pilots who were just "happy to be here".

MAG ALPA pilots successfully stopped a GoJet style alter-ego attempt although they paid dearly for it in compensation and quality of life. If only TranStates could have had this section things may have been different in their arena.

If MAG is liquidated, if nothing else, please get a copy of the contract and adopt the first section in your collective bargaining agreement.

Don't worry about MAG pilots. They are some of the best, toughest, and hardest working pilots this side of the Mississippi. They are the ALPA cage-fighters and can take anything any airline management can throw at them. MAG pilots will not only survive but thrive wherever they may land.

I've never seen a OH pilot flip off or reject a Mesa Pilot. However good luck to those of you who will be looking for jobs. From someone who's been unemployed for 20 months it's not the end of the world. Spend some time with your families you never get to see and get a job in a couple of months. Hiring is really starting to ramp up everywhere, and you may end up better off in the end.

the company plans 200 pilots bringing the total down to 803 which is 5/06 DOH.
There will most likely be a quite large number of VOL furloughs, as this displacement will effect most of the group.

Jr CA will be mid to late 2003 hire looks like
