Two summers ago they got pulled from Freedom, and Delta announced they were going to Comair, who began hiring for the first time in 3 years.

Then Delta decided they wanted them at Pinnacle instead, and Comair furloughed the 150 pilots they had already hired to fly them.

Then in the fall of 2008 Delta said that Pinnacle was only supposed to have them temporarily, and that they were really going to Mesaba. So Pinnacle's 900s, and the balance of Freedom's 900s on order, went to Mesaba in January 2009.

Then Delta said just kidding, we're gonna send some of them to ASA in the spring of 2009. And Mesaba furloughed.

So the short answer is: they went to Comair Pinnacle and Mesaba before ending up at Mesaba and ASA.

The original contract was fourteen aircraft for ten years.
I believe the original contract lease rate was one dollar/month for each aircraft. That's cheaper than a good used Chevy!

We are also taking a few to CYAM (Sault Ste. Marie) from CAE. I took one of three up there just yesterday. Three more next week as I understand.

That's pretty sad actually. I loved those 200's. I always wished MAG would have taken better care of them. They were my favorite.

How many airplanes heading for parking today? Mesa used to fly a lot of the 50 seaters out of iad and ord. They flew a lot more 50 seaters than 70s that's for sure. I'm guessing it's at least 30+ remaining planes being parked today or this week. And are the dashes still flyin up in the Rockies?

The are all enroute to TUS for the lease returns. And as of now MESA only operates 20 CRJ-700s for UAX that's it. All the Dashes and CRJ-200s are parked.

As for fleet breakdown the active planes are (I believe)

20 CRJ-700s for UAX
8 CRJ-200s for US Airways express
38 CRJ-900s ForUS Airways Express
6 CRJ-200s for Go!
6 DHC-8 for US Airways Express

I do not know the numbers of ERJ-145s for Freedom
But I believe its 34 active
