I was just watching the recent US Airways State of the Airline video for Q1 and found the comments by Scott Kirby regarding Mesa's bankruptcy to be very interesting.
He basically stated that Airways was in negotiations with Mesa to lower their costs and sign a new contract. He also said they are searching for other bidders on the current Mesa flying and that if Mesa could not match other regionals they will discontinue their flying. He concluded by saying that if Airways approves a new lower cost contract with Mesa they should survive bankruptcy, and if they don't, "who knows".
