Mesa Air Group Chapter 11 Info

I bet a lot will hinge on how the Delta ruling will go. If the court decides in Delta's favor then that could pave the way for the other majors to walk away in which there's really not much else the company can do except liquidate. I doubt Go! can support the company on its own without big iron flying in passengers from the mainland like Hawaiian and former Aloha.

I have no sympathy for Mesa. They took on longer leases, probably so they could get lower rates than others bidding on the flying. No sympathy for that choice.
I just have this funny recollection of a company called ACA that Mesa bid against to secure this UAL flying and help drive ACA out of business. I wouldn't be surprised that part of the reason Mesa was able to underbid ACA was cheaper lease rates they secured for having those airplanes beyond the CPA with UAL.

Mesa is still at fault for signing longer leases than their CPA. They probably got cheaper lease rates for doing so and undercut other bidders. They should not be able to walk away from them.

But, who are we kidding? Mesa will manage to get the leases for free and pilots to work for pennies and then UA, Delta, and US Air will love them again.

I do not know anything specific. But Doug Parker implied in his crew news in CLT that MESA has the choice of which contracts they wish to keep and ditch. They are the ones going through Chap 11 and by doing so it gives THEM the right to restructure.... Thus the only thing Airways can hope for is to renegotiate the contract and get rid of the 200's and Dash 8s... In addition to diversifying the West Coast flying.... But they cannot dump Mesa.... Again it was in the crew news and thus I believe Mesa will pick and choose what they keep (most money) and what they lose.....
