Mesa Air Group Chapter 11 Info

Skywest buying Mesa looks better than the XJT buyout. 20 CRJ 700 for United, All the 900's and the US Airways contract. Not many fifty seaters left. ( I believe ten ). I think the investers want there money back and with the regional market falling off it's best to take the money and run. The 900's are the most fuel and cost efficient airplanes out there and with US Airways scope clause will be around longer than most other airplanes. If the pilot shortage is true, that will even worsen the regional market do to the lack of pilots to fly 50 seaters. I think after bankruptcy, believe it or not, Mesa is in the best position to make money. But Mesa will have a huge problem keeping their pilots due to the lack of upgrades. The top 300 of the seniority list are staying, they have been there for 15 plus years. Probably no new growth and most all of the FO's here are downgraded captains. We have the PIC and the experience so as soon as the Legacy and other doors open were gone. We still lost 48 in Oct. and Nov. without any major hiring. Mesa doesn't have the capitol to buy Comair. Plus all those fifty seaters Comair has would not be a smart investment. Plus we have already ****ed off Delta and they would be the only ones to sign a long term contract for those aircraft. I think Mesa will be done within the next year or so. Either absorbed by US Airways who already owns 10% of the stock or a buyout by another regional in which Skywest would be the best fit.

latest mesa is getting acars and 1st class seats on 900's, dropn seat configuration for captains in from 900 pay to 700 pay. New badges, and name tags for pilots. New wing designs as well. And P.F. said probably not with ten erj speculation, still working on it. Safe flying everyone!

I probably missed something earlier on, but could you expand on the quote above --- does Mesa still have erj's hanging around from the Delta days? If so, why couldn't they get rid of the leases along with all the others.

Interesting. will they replace those America West interiors, or keep them?
Also does US Airways scope allowed first class seats installed on regionals in the first place? or is it a new thing?
NOte: I feel for the Captains losing their pay though it's just not right

50 seaters make zero sense. UA just canned YVs ass from that flying. UA has made it clear they like 700s and would probably be looking for more of those in advance of contract negotiations with CO/UA pilots. Only thing I can see is UA just going through the motions to get XJT to agree to lower rates.
ACARS and new US interiors are both much needed.
First class comes out of left field. HP origional had first on the 900s then dumped it. Wonder what US sees in it now? Doesn't surprise me to see mgmt use this as a way to eliminate the top paying 900 scale. Wonder if Mesa will see any new destinaions out this transition?
This also could be an attempt to redo MAGs image and sweetin it up for a buyer. Finally when do contract talks start?

I hope RAH gets first in the 170/175's to match the 900's. Having a first class product available on most flights is something Airways sorely needs for their large business passenger following. So many Airways flights are done by RJ's, and with all coach, Airways is missing a lot of revenue potential. I think it has a lot less to do with Mesa pay scales and while lot to do with refining the Airways product.

To come on here and say First Class in large RJ's for USairways is a done deal is a stretch to say the least. It is something that is being WORKED on and we all know that. However, it is nothing that has been given approval. Hell even as of the state of the airlines to report annual earnings Kirby said he would like it to be done, and the financials make sense, BUT it is still a ways away.....
Mesa's planes are in need of a make over BADLY. Hell we all know that. It is just about sick to walk on a Mesa 900 these days. Much like a lot of the AWAC interiors need to be redone. I'm just glad Mesa's are going to be done to hopefully improve the product. Also to my knowledge the scope of USairways allows first class.... So I dont really think there is much to do. I just wonder how the cost for first class seats compared to the loss of those seats is.... I know many routes that the CRJ700, 900, EMB 170/175 are flying are normally full. So to lose seats seems silly unless the profit on 1st class is indeed greater....
Also a CRJ900 is a 900. To have a contract that would POSSIBLY let you get paid less is insane. I surely hope your contract does not allow this to be done.
