Mesa Air Group Chapter 11 Info
#1382
I've heard reliable rumblings of recalls, but I'm not sure how deep the current FUR list goes to date as far as DOH... I do know that there's "496" on FUR, FEB 2007 is the most junior class still on property that just missed the last anticipated FUR rounds, which were cancelled a little over a month ago I think it was, and there's around 830 still on property, less than half of what MAG had when I was a new hire about 5 years ago. Craziness.
I know someone knows the exact numbers around here who's nose knows more than I do right now. I do know that of the 496, I'd be surprised if more than 30% came back... as would many of us. So, for any future growth's sake, I hope they have a plan should the Company need a couple hundred pilots recalled into training pronto if this stand-alone plan is going to pull through. I'm sure they do...
Any preliminary bets on the next "WHOA!" Monday morning announcement (i.e. Pinnacle/Mesaba, TSA/Compass)?

InvertedLoop,
MAG is currently deep into the claims process (Transferring, Settling, Objecting, etc). The process is taking longer than planned (as usual) and extensions are being granted by the court, which in turn delays any vote on the POR.
Judge Glenn has just extended MAG's exclusive POR filing period until March 1, 2011 provided it is jointly held with the Creditor's Committee beginning February 15, 2011.
The Judge has also extended MAG's exclusive solicitaion period until May 2, 2011 provided any further extensions are jointly held by the Creditor's Committee.
It is not abnormal for complex reorganizations to drag out in this manner.

Airborne840,
First of all, welcome home! I got a recall letter a few days ago. They announced a Dash 8 class of 4 FOs and a CRJ class of 12 FOs. Talking to some of the active line pilots, it sounds like attrition to the majors is playing a factor. Good Luck!
Winglet,
Thanks for always keeping us in the loop!

Hi Guys,
Would any of the Mesa pilots please contribute to the following questions:
Any idea of the time to upgrade at Mesa in the CRJ?
How many hours are the guys on the CRJ flying per month?
What's the likehood of holding a line after being recalled?
Thanks guys and Happy Holidays

Reserve is flying around 50-75 hrs/mo Line holders are averaging 80.
You have zero chance of holding a line unless you are senior and on LOA.
Despite thingsstarting to turn around here at Mesa...life still looks pretty dismal for the forseeable future.

Reserve hours depend greatly upon base and month. Since the guarantee is about 76, the company will not make lines less than that.
The only likely chance of holding a line immediately after recall is if you go to a base that doesn't have any reserves (e.g. LIH, KOA, OGG), and even those bases have reserves sometimes. Furthermore, as you should remember, the first month online, they always stick you in after the roster is complete; so they build you a reserve line for that month. But what are you worried about reserve for anyway? You're about to be the most junior guy at a **** company. Life's gonna suck, bra. LOL. FWIW, I think it's easier to get the days off you want as senior reserve than junior lineholder.

to upgrade at mesa now is going to be awhlile. Going to have to grow with additional flying. The top 300 or 400 pilots (majority) are comfortable where they are. The majority that will be leaving are fos that were captains, so the pilots leaving are fos. Upgrade will be awhile if no future growth and mag stays at 850 pilot group
