Says the flight is operated by Mesa?
UAL just announced the cancellation so give them some time. They have a lot to figure out and correct.

Yea I was just curious how that works, I thought as soon as the announcement went out, they would stop the sale of the tickets so they didn't have
more refunds to give out. Especially the cities only Mesa serves.

Good luck to the Mesa crews, hopefully they will find a new place to use the planes.

Yep the beginning of the end...

Dear MAG Pilots:

Over the past several months, we have been reporting that our United DH8
and CRJ-200 contracts were at risk to expire on April 30, 2010.

Last week, United served us official notice of their intent not to renew
our DH8 contract and alternatively did not provide notice extend the CRJ
- 200 contract. Given this news, we have decided to stop ground training
at this time while we evaluate our fleet plan and staffing needs (this
does not include recurrent ground training).

All pending future training dates are also canceled, except for
recurrent training.

Attached to this memo is a list of all pilots affected by this
announcement.

* If you are returning to your former equipment and seat, Crew
Scheduling will contact you within the next 48 hours to build you a
schedule - assignment of open time if your seniority permits, and/or
scheduled reserve days. We realize that some pilots would have otherwise
held a hard line and that sitting reserve is less undesirable. In order
to remedy this unique situation, we will offer Long Call reserve without
the typical requirement for pay guarantee reductions, to those pilots
who are assigned reserve. Additionally, these affected pilots may choose
select trips from open time and build a combination of trips and Long or
Short call reserve days, seniority permitting.

* If you were downgraded to FO status from CA without any training
requirement, and if you are now are returning to CA status, you will fly
your awarded FO line at CA pay rates.

* If you who were scheduled to begin training during the month of
November, and your training is now cancelled, you will fly your awarded
schedule through the scheduled training start date, and will be provided
the opportunity to sit as Long Call reserve as mentioned above, choosing
select open time trips, or a combination of trips and reserve days, or
all reserve days, seniority permitting.

* If you are moving between Freedom and Mesa certificates, we will
contact you individually after we determine if you will need to be
processed again for a background check.

If you were affected by this announcement and your circumstances were
not addressed, please contact Standing Bid as soon as possible so that we can resolve your situation. It is our intent to resolve each situation

quickly, fairly and consistently.

This is certainly a difficult situation for our company and we are doing
our best to work our way through this challenge. We understand your
concerns and apologize for any inconvenience this necessary operational
decision may have caused. More information will be provided as that information becomes available.

Please contact your Regional Chief Pilot, or any member of the Flight
Operations Management team if you have further questions or need
clarification.

Regards,

There is a mass furlough coming. If they go into Bankrupcy, then are in a world of hurt because then Delta can get rid of all that ERJ flying. That would spell Chapter 7 for Mesa because there is no way the can come out of all the debt they have.

That is what's probably happening. Delayed BK until they would find out about this UA contract. Now they have and the writing is on the wall. The irony is also that Mesa probably could not afford to underbid anymore for this UA deal, the tables have turned on JO and Mesa.
