Mesa Loses Dash 8 Flying

The 26 CRJ-200 and 10 Dash-8 aircraft represent approximately 18% of the Company's revenues. Although we have early return rights for 8 CRJ-200 aircraft currently flying for United, there are significant lease return costs associated with these aircraft. In addition, we have substantial aircraft lease obligations beyond April 2010 on the remaining United CRJ-200 fleet. If the CRJ-200 flying and Dash-8 flying is not extended, no assurance can be given that we will be able to place these aircraft in revenue-generating service in a timely manner, or at all, or sublease these aircraft at or near the lease reimbursement rates in the United code-share agreement. If this occurs, the inability to timely redeploy such aircraft and/or sublease such aircraft at favorable lease reimbursement rates would have a material adverse impact on our financial condition and results of operations. In the absence of obtaining additional capital to fund our operations through equity or debt financings, asset sales, consensual restructuring of the aircraft leases, extend United CRJ-200 and Dash-8 flying, or placing the aircraft with another carrier pursuant to a revenue guarantee contract, our cash flows from operations and available working capital will be insufficient to meet our future capital requirements. No assurance can be given that any future equity, debt or other financings will be successful or otherwise available on acceptable terms, or at all, or that we will be successful in reaching a consensual restructuring of our aircraft leases. "
The life line is slowly getting cut off. . .
Good luck to all the good people of Mesa.
Guess it might be a good time to start STFD.

I feel bad for the guys who are going to be affected by the reduction but some of those aircraft were in such a poorly maintained state that I am glad they will most likely be mothballed. Operating with 5+ MEL's on a given flight should not be the norm and is an embarrassment.
I am hoping the replacement will have higher standards and a management that treats its employees with at least an ounce of respect.

Best of luck to all the crewmembers who will be effected.
As for who will end up in DEN? My money's on SKW for two reasons. First we loaned UAL a lot of money. Second, SKW and UAL have already restarted E-120 ops out of DEN.
I wouldn't be surprise if most of flying becomes at-risk for SKW with the rest F4D. The E-120 is not a good airplane for DEN but they'll make it work...........again (for those who don't know we had an E-120 base there for many years).
JMO.
Regardless I feel for the MAG crews. We all knew it was highly likely but it still stings when it happens.

Well it looks like this will be the final straw for me. I'm sure I'll be gone now at some point next year. The furloughs will probably be at least 400 deep now I'd assume. It's been a good run though and I've definitely been taking advantage of the overstaffed situation while it's lasted. Good luck to everyone a lot of good people are already and soon will be on the street. Hopefully I'll be able to start with SkyWest before my unemployment runs out.

As others have said it will not be Colgan in a dash 8...we dont have any and will not have any at that point. We will not even have the next one for Continental until August of that year.
If and only if we did any of that flying it would be a Saab since we are losing the LGA flying which frees up a few airframes. I dont see us flying saabs out there.
Who knows.
