Aren't CRJ2s limited to 200knots now for flaps? I heard it's tough to slow them to 200 maybe that's why they're slowing down ahead of time?

Maybe he needed to pay his car payment that month. Seriously though, why do people get on here and make threads about something they saw or heard someone do while on duty? I guess it keeps the forums busy. That Citation 10 vs Dash 8 was friggin rediculous.

True. Your profile says 134-140 model. Going into LAX and landing on the south complex often times there is no speed assignment. In an XR, you could do 250 to marker and still meet the company policy for being stabilized.

I wasn't on "duty", or heard or saw this. It was a complaint from ATC.

Reminds me of the old saying, "Assume makes an *ss out of u and me".

Agreed! Done it lots. Gotta love the extra 15 knots on the flaps 45 speed.

Da Magic,
In ATL we regularly do 250 to the marker..... Although the FARS do say you can reply with "UNABLE", you can expect shortly after "GO-AROUND". And 250 to the marker, FAF that is, and slowed and stabilized at approach speed and configuration at 1000ft agl is no problem, just takes some planning....

It was always fun doing those arrivals with no speed restrictions.

I miss LAX.

7 total posts and you've got this mentality? Welcome to APC, you'll fit right in!

There isn't a pilot at Mesa flying the jet that hasn't been doing so for at least a year and a half. I think after flying an aircraft for over a year one should have a pretty good grasp on how things work and are likely at this point "experienced" enough to fly it correctly.

This post is nothing but a passive-agressive attempt to stir the pot. Of course there is no memo mandating we fly at 180 Kts below 10k, and you know that. If I remember correctly you fly for SKW Tony, I have barreled down on you guys more than once going into FAT, do you guys have some kind of new policy requiring you to go slow into FAT?

I have a lot of friends at SKW and their all good guys. I'm not criticizing anyone, simply pointing out that the intent of this thread is obviously not to ask a serious question, but to backhandedly insult Mesa pilots.

You must have some pretty talkative sources in ATC. Care to mention names? I've never heard this complaint...

No, you are wrong. See the bold section below (Emphasis added).

http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/m...r/7110.65S.pdf

5−7−3. MINIMA
When assigning airspeeds, use the following
recommended minima:

2. If a pilot is unable to comply with the speed assignment,
the pilot will advise.

b. When an operational advantage will be
realized, speeds lower than the recommended
minima may be applied.

c. To arrival aircraft operating below 10,000 feet:
1. Turbojet aircraft. A speed not less than
210 knots; except when the aircraft is within 20 flying
miles of the runway threshold of the airport of
intended landing, a speed not less than 170 knots.

They are limited to 200 kits. But it's not tough to slow below 200 kts without flaps with proper planning. Hell, even with half assed planning like I use.
