Dosnt this get old? Mesa isn't shutting it's doors. This has been said for the past two decades. It just isn't happening. If someone wants to stay in the company to get great QoL in base, then be it... It's none of yalls business. Quality time with family with the best schedule one could ask for, beats being at a major or legacy commuting and being on the bottom of the reserve list barely seeing family as much.

Mesa will never close its doors. They’ll get beaten and kicked. They’ll be crapped on by their peers. They’ll be counted out and left for dead, but they will rise up once again and be a mediocre at best place to build time and get out. JO and Mesa are like Tyrion Lannister, he always finds a way to live.

United needs Mesa to live to see another day so when the hiring at mainline returns to normal levels, and regionals are able to fill their CA pools up once again, United can use Mesa's bare bones, all-expenses-spared, business model as a cudgel against the likes of SkyWest, Republic, Air Wisconsin, etc. to keep their prices in line. Make no mistake: United is not doing this out of the kindness of their heart.

If UA sees staffing normalizing in the next six months to a year they will keep it on life support or until it no longer suits them and the lift is covered. When either/or happens is anyone’s guess.

If United also begins to lose money on the 737 problems, they will be forced to cut cost where needed as well!! Mesa could be halted from receiving funding!! Speculations of course, however it could certainly be a possibility.

If UAL actually gets to that point they would more likely drop someone like CommutAir that only flys old 50 seaters rather than Mesa who currently operates the one regional aircraft that they want to keep. This hiring wave is temporary, Mesa is transitioning crews to the 175, the 190's will go away, and they will still be around long after the 50 seaters are turned into beer cans.
