Direct entry captain?
I have an offer and a class date with Mesa and was accepted into the United DEC program . Do you guys have long call, commuter rooms ? What's the time to hold a line in IAH ? Also how many people that have met the united requirements are still waiting on a class date?

Yes
Long call commuter rooms?
No. We have crew rooms, and you arent allowed to sleep in there

As a DEC, you will be on reserve forever. Possibly years. You will likely go to your next airline and never hold a line as a DEC

Unkown. The Aviate list is private.

go to an LCC. Get a “bigger than RJ type” and apply to UAL. If you’re qualified to be a DEC at Mesa, you’re qualified to go directly to United or any major. Save yourself from the BS and go somewhere you can survive at when the wheels fall off

What is the average reserve time for FOs? Is the new Denver base going to change that for the CRJ? Recruiters saying reserve is only two weeks, seems laughable.
Is the training getting back on track or are there still delays throughout the summer?
Have a CJO from SkyWest as well, so really just want to fly as soon as possible. Any insight is great, thanks!

Right now, there are FOs one year+ on property and still on reserve. You ain't flying crap in 2 weeks. You'll go an entire month and only actually fly 5 hours a month. While sitting at the airport 150+ hours a month doing nothing.
>Denver base going to change that
No one knows. Apparently there is still like 2-3 months for the United transition to be stable. But I wouldn't hold my breath. There isn't any flying at all for FOs. If you are a DEC it's another story.

So…. You’ll NEVER hold a line as a DEC. MESA is forcing upgrades so every fo on property as they upgrade will push you down. We do have long call but is is 17 pct of days on reserve / 20 so there’s typically less that 3 on the captain side. It’s a sweet gig if your seniority can hold it. 12-18 hour callout. No commuter hotels. We haven’t had DEC for 2 years. It’s unknown how that’s working yet for those “guaranteed” flow to United.

UA has plenty of flying for us to do. We are captain constrained. That’ll change as we work through the upgrades and get more captains.
