Also what technology are they struggling with? Kalitta primary flies 767 and 747 which are decades older and beat up than the CRJs. Vnav and autothrottle aren't a big thing to learn. The 777 is more senior.

What's probably holding them back is age, and lack of recent training program. Once you pass 25 years old, your brains plasticity solidifies, making learning harder and harder every year past 25.

I think if you don't make it to your forever airline at age 45, it gets much tougher to succeed.

Thats why it's important to keep reading Wikipedia articles, news articles, whatever. Eat healthy food, play logic games. Keep your brain sharp.
I can pledge to that too. I and about a handful of my class mates that are past 35 years of age struggled in training. I fell through the crack unfortunately at the end. I think the compressed training footprint and stress caught up to me. Each one of us struggled with different areas in ground, matrix, maneuvers, LOFT, etc. I got few ex-military aircrew, like myself and the other class mates that were Blackhawk pilots, we all have a lot of experience in different realms of military aviation and all struggled. It's amazing, all the young kids breezed through. Hard to grapple with when you know you are mentoring the younger kids there and struggling at the same time. I don't get it. lol! While they partied and watched football, we were chair flying in hotel rooms pounding our heads in the books. But at least I've been through it and have a better expectation if given another chance else where.

There was a short term deal to come back and keep
Seniority. That’s over. I personally know of no one recently who went to Kalitta and came back. In fact with this temporary deal I only only if one who came back.

Everyone has a different situation. For me this works. I’ve helped people move on with recommendations and advice.
