PHX works - there can be out stations that operate line crew bases. Mesa does this with SDF presently. It increased productivity. DFW and PHX work for the same reason - these bases will be SMALL. There's talk of a DEN base as well as an IAH CRJ base. I think PHX and DFW will shrink. I don't expect to hold DFW any longer. Oh well things change. But bringing the 900's temporarily (the 76 seaters) will not violate scope at UA so long as eqyivalant 76 seaters are parked. No reason for the UAL MEC to object. We will train the CRJ pilots on the ERJ and just re-add the ERJ As we remove CRJs. This is a win for UA because they get increased flying immediately Mesa gets nearly full utilization of their pilots as they cross train to the ERJ. Win/Win - with very little negative downside. We can staff about 25 CRJ's and are currently flying under 30 for AA. 11 of these planes are fairly new low MX birds. Even if we only bring on 10 CRJ 900s - we can fly parked 700;s and 550s that GoJet cannot staff. This really isn't unrealistic.
Some things that are unrealistic.
Keeping the bases the same sizes.
Keeping the 900s for very long.

SDF is not DFW and PHX. United can’t compete with a CRJ against A321s flown by AA and 737s flown by Southwest. Hell it can’t even compete against F9 and NK with that product.
less than 10 first class seats into major metro areas?
flying RJs into other airlines hubs is why United has sucked for the last 20 years. You want to
lose your premium passengers? Put a crap airline that can’t staff and a crap airplane that’s poorly maintained on a major route. Face it DFW and PHX are gone.

UA pilots and ALPA are in the drivers seat, and anyone who would question what the UA pilots on here are saying, maybe should rethink. The crapstorm that would happen if UA management tried to backdoor something would be astronomical.

This is what anyone with a brain expects to happen. I don't expect to stay on the 900 - I expect to go to the 175. A DFW base (small) is still possible as we already fly numerous flights per day - just start and end in DFW. It won't be the same SIZE as the current base, but it can be a base. Nobody says the bases will be the same size.

There will be all kinds of rumors and stories passed around to try to keep pilots on property for the last few months of their operations, but they will not be true. There will be more airlines that fold in the next 12-18 months, so it won't just be Mesa, but Mesa will certainly be the next one to go out of business.
Get out as soon as you can.

I think the newer 900s are AA owned. There sticker price new is 40 million each. It’s likely airlines pay half that, but no way Mesa is sitting on a canceled contract with 10 20 million dollar 900s and a market cap of 43 million.

Mesa is done. Zero percent chance that they will exist a year from now.

How can Mesa be “just fine” with idle assets that aren’t paid for. The idle E jets are United’s problem the 900s are Mesa’s problem.

It’s likely accounting, I doubt Mesa has the 900s paid off as an asset on their books. If they can’t sell them for whats leveraged against them then they have to keep them in a service contract. I have no idea what will happen, I am sure United doesn't like having idle assets sitting around, but Mesa would likely file BK if they had to pay for leveraged 900s without a CPA on them.
