Default New Hire into 737

My kid has a CRJ Nov class date and received an email offer to start in the 737 class next week. There aren't a lot of details about the 737 flying. What's the pay rate? Is the flying home based or do you need to be in SDF? What's the flying like? How is the training program?

Did the 737 also receive the new hourly pay rates?

No not on the 737. You make more on the crj rates.

I thought the 737 flies out of CVG and it is purely cargo for DHL.

I can’t resist…you are asking this on behalf of your adult son or daughter? Why don’t you just ask them?

Accepting the 737 over the crj at this point is just dumb, when you can make almost double flying the crj.

"but the type rating!"

Well then you can just pay for your own 737 type rating with your $100/hr. You'll still make more money at the end of the year

And on top of that, one but SWA really cares about the 737 type rating, and these days there’s a lot more than just SWA that fly 737s. It’s not that hard to learn.

Definitely have the kid go where the money is.

I am in the class starting next week for the 737 and the pay rate is the SAME as the CRJ and the ERJ which is $100.00 per hr. Flying the 737 cargo for DHL out of CVG means you don't have to deal with passengers or flight attendants.

That may be the case. Unfortunately one can’t believe any future hopes, dreams or plans of an airline, only what is in print in the contract etc.
