reserve at envoy is awarded by proffering, or bidding. Everyday between 10am-2pm you put in a bid for what you want to do the next day. That evening by 5pm it’s posted. So you know if you’re R1, R2 or what standby shift.
If you’re more than about 1/3rd off the bottom you’re not ever going to be given standby. If you’re at the top 1/3 of the list you can get any trips that are open and you proffer for. The middle “gray” area hardly ever gets called. You can go months without flying if you’re lucky.

Means reserves almost always have to commute in the day before. That’s why. That’s not the case at Mesa. Our reserves can bud for a 4am-4pm or noon to midnight 2 hour fallout for the entire month. Meaning a commuter could bid a noon to midnight reserve shift and always commute in the day of and are released at 6 or 7 pm on the last day of nothing is assigned and can commute back on the last day. We also have long call reserves that are on a 12 to 18 hour callout the entire month. So a commuter could be on long call from their house almost anywhere in the country.

I believe they don’t bid until the day before for exactly what type of reserve they have. So the most junior guy doesn’t know if he or she will be on reserve at 5 am or midnight until the day before. System works well for senior reserves but screws over junior reserves. That’s what I’ve heard. I don’t know for sure if it still works that way. But if it does, yeah that’s pretty terrible.
So it’s basically the exact same as ours since now you bid/are assigned RS1 and then scheduling just calls you at 4 am to notify you you of a 9 pm trip so that you have legal rest... how many grievances do we have stacked up on that I wonder. Bottom line is best case we’re tied for last place imo.

then I stand corrected, it’s just been explained to me by my friends that have been there over 2 years still sitting airport standby, that it is the worst. Maybe we are tied for last. At envoy you have to confirm your next day assignment and they don’t call you. It’s an automated line you call and just press 1 to confirm.
Yeah either way, definitely sucks. It’s not sitting in uniform at the airport for 152 hours a month that bothers me... it’s the fact that you only get paid for 76 of those. In my mind keeping those kinds of things from happening is the entire point of paying a grand+ in dues every year. I doubt the union will focus much energy on that in the negotiations but, along with the adjusted days off calendar it’s one of the more egregious things in our contract. I’ll put it this way... if it was everybody in that boat for years instead of a few unlucky souls it would have been fixed long ago.

Bidding daily for the next days time would be terrible and tough to plan around.

Exactly. We have a lot of commuting reserves who commute in the day of their first RAP. Where if they were at Envoy they would lose a day off every trip by having to commute in the day before.

yes they love to use a morning reservist for the evening shift. Crew tracking sure knows exactly how to twist the contract for what they need, and ignore what doesn’t work for them. I’ve been the most senior person on reserve, but put on ready reserve because they for some reason use a more junior guy for a trip. They don’t give a ******. Also, what ever happened to aggressive pickup?? Even on days off my requests aren’t approved.. “Fly now grieve it later” thanks CF
