May I ask what the average upgrade time is right now at YV? It sounds like with so many lifers in the left seat, YV may not be the best destination for Aviate participants looking to get in, over, out, and to UA in the quickest (and safest) manner possible.

They are hiring direct entry captains. There is no upgrade time.

Better question may be how long does it take to gain the required knowledge and experience (and the 1000 hours) to be ready for upgrade.

Right now, upgrade times across the industry are close to an all time low. Heck, even United has DEC's (as scary as that is).

Changes all the time. Right now the seniority list is essentially frozen with no new hires... So those at the bottom of the list are stuck as reservists for an indefinite time, barely flying. At this rate, years and years.

If you were hired 3 years ago, FO were flying like crazy and held a line out of IOE flying 90hrs a month... So upgrade in a little over a year.

Case in point... Anywhere from a year... To years and years.

Yes. Thank you.

Got it. Given the extent of the hiring spike experienced post covid, a plausible expectation for our cyclical industry is to have something comparable during the next/current down wave. Impossible to predict for sure, but "years and years" may be the norm for some time.

Appreciate the intel.

We do??? Our contract doesn’t allow for a DEC. are new hire pilots being awarded a CA slot, yes. Plus there are many guard rails in place.

No one is coming to UA and becoming a CA right away. Currently they need a minimum of 500hrs as a FO. In the future that can be lowered to 350hrs but with more guard rails.

Looks like Mesa hired almost 10 people into the EJET as FO last month. Funny they are still hiring off the street FO's into the EJET, who end up taking valuable class and sim time, when Mesa has a huge backlog of CURRENT CRJ pilots who didn't even finish EJET training or didnt even START yet. Big lol.

Poor logical decisions

Getting paid while waiting months then again dragged out the training is where the poor efficieny is at. But hey, with this pay I wouldn't complain.

Did they have a contractual obligation of some sort?
