If you do that, do you get any priority in training, or do you have to do everything with the new hires
No. Outside displacement you can only swap equipment with upgrade as an fo.

Compared to the **** show that is the American side the United side is Mesa Mainline. Sure runs more like mainline.

You can credit easily 25% more a month on the united side. With the new rates, it’s a surprise to me that anyone goes to the CRJ. Not to mention higher credit trips and better overnights.

Absolutely true. Currently as an fo. As a crj ca they are working us to death. I haven’t credited under 100 in 6 months.

So you can't go CRJ FO to 737 FO?

Only FO > CA

correct you would have to be displaced to switch airplanes and remain FO. Well One other way is to upgrade pass your checkride then fail OE. I’ve only seen that with one guy.

Default Mesa’s “Current Situation”?

A person in a Republic thread said PSA is suspending new hire FO training until summer and said it was due to Mesa’s current situation so they’re expecting to get pilots from Mesa. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Probably the opposite. Mesa is getting fully staffed and taking back the flying AA was going to give to PSA. PSA isn’t getting the MSEA CRJ’s Either it was hoping to get. So less routes and less airplanes = no need for pilots. Pilot shortage is over due to increased pay just like ALPA said it would be. Nearly every Regional has stopped hiring 1500 hr CFI’s since the pay raises took effect. Republic has canceled all new hire F/O classes till like Spring/Summer 2023

No, it’s not. If it was over, they wouldnt hiring DECs.

Y’all this person isn’t even a pilot. You’ve been warned.

The PILOT shortage is over. The Captain shortage is a not over. Never has ALPA or any news media outlet written a press release of there being a “Captain Shortage”. Those airlines with forced upgrades are not having “as bad” of staffing Captains as the airlines that don’t do forced upgrades.

And Yes MESA has a lot of Captains and was so short F/O’s prior to the pay raises, they’d have their reserve Captains flys as an F/O. That rarely happens anymore. They just now opened up to hire DEC Captains (so they can take on more flying, like the flying Republic can’t do, because they can’t staff their airplanes with Captains). It will make Mesa more profitable flying more routes. Meanwhile Republic delays/cancels deliveries of new E175’s. Who do you think is going to snatch those up to fly? The Regional that is fully staffed!
